How are you doing?
A seemingly benign question, but upon asking it in our current times, an important one and an expression of caring for those around us, in our neighborhood, community, country and world. So again from me to you, how are you doing? I do hope you are well, and you are letting
yourself feel what you need to feel, but also moving through it in a constructive way.
In today's This & That's weekend links to articles to read, you will find quite a few ideas for making the most of this time at home as well as understanding all that is going on, so I won't go into that here in this week's Letter from the Editor.
However, I am, as I shared in this week's new podcast episode, resolute in my determination to find the good in this unwanted and uncertain situation. So when I came across this IG post I appreciate
the writer sharing succinctly and positively what benefit we could be gifted with.
Each of us will be more p, or already is, appreciative of something in our daily lives that we are currently not able to enjoy or know that we could enjoy if we wanted to if we were not told to be at home. However, this requires us to be self-aware, reflective, and honest with ourselves. On a larger note with this in mind, knowing, like many of you, I cannot up-and-go to France or England
whenever my budget or schedule allows sits heavy with me, and makes me more fully appreciate that ability when we had it. On a smaller, but no less important note, and more everyday note, I miss the hugs and sitting close to those I love or care deeply about. But there is so much good we still have in this very moment. I have met more of my neighbors during this time as we are all home for the most part. We are out
walking in our neighborhood frequently and getting to know each other more and with each exchange more sincerely.
The stress we are feeling is real and unique. And even if you are like me, and feel as though you have been preparing for this situation your entire life without realizing it (being someone who thoroughly enjoys her home and yard and is an introvert), knowing you are confined and your freedom to do as you please is curtailed is unconsciously mentally taxing. However, this is when
we are tested to reveal our ability to think about each other as well as our own well-being, and do what is best so that we can all move back into the life we love with all of those that we love, or maybe, realize what we can do to improve what we thought was the way we had to go about living.
I am confident we will more fully appreciate the humanity in each and every one of us and that we are all in this together and always have been. It is just that these current events are placing it directly in front of us and demanding that we notice and pay attention. Hopefully we will use this time to heal whatever we need to heal - globally, as a country, as a community,
with those most intimate to us and within ourselves.
Finding contentment within ourselves is a formidable foundation that will help to elevate us in the most trying and frustrating times. And when we do find our inner contentment, we will become more present in the moment and worry less about what will come and harbor more
confidence that whatever will come, we will be able to handle it well. My hope for all of us is that when we reflect on these times after it is behind us and we are healed, we are thankful for the courage and kindness we exercised throughout it, and therefore have no regrets and only gratitude for this most unexpected of historical events.
In this week's newsletter you will find a few additional blog posts as along with the regular weekly postings, I wanted to offer tailored posts to readers as a way to offer inspiration and ideas for constructively moving forward. You will see the two additional posts focusing on podcast episodes organized by theme and Petit Plaisirs to share ideas for enjoying your
additional time at home.
Thank you for being a part of TSLL community and for subscribing to TSLL's weekly newsletter. Until next week, stay well, and I will see you on the blog.
