Clear priorities simplify decision-making.
It has been my experience that upon the moment that I unwaveringly know the order of my priorities, I recognize my errors or missteps clearly upon reflection. From understanding why I was ambiguous as to where and with whom to spend my time, which heightened stress; to wrong decisions for my eventual desired direction
such as time spent with people or partaking in activities that depleted or took away time and energy that should have been placed elsewhere, all of these realizations are crystallized and made known.
Hindsight offers each of us brilliant aha moments into how to improve our journey going forward, and it is when the priority list is defined, a purpose for each item on the list, clearly, that we shed the unnecessary, radically reducing our stress, and in so doing, find the strides of our journey moving forward to be longer
and stronger.
Case in point, once I realized the sincere joy and pleasure cooking brought into my life, I kept stepping forward either by investing or saying 'yes' to opportunities to expand my experience, deepen my knowledge nad share what I have discovered. The hesitation was all but non-existent. Fewer shoes began being purchased and more copper pans and cookbooks where brought home. :)
But I want to ease your mind as well. Knowing what our priorities actually should be when it comes to aligning with our truest self, and what we think they are is the difference between a perfectly fitting shoe that allows us to move fully as well as dance and jump with abandon — shall we say, the gift of a sneaker as opposed to the pair of heels we take off to be replaced by the
aforementioned sneaker.
Knowing our true priority list is not a piece of information that materializes in our minds much like a "to do" list - on demand. Rather, a true priority list materializes with time and life experience. Too often, the priority list is solidified unconsciously to try to find contentment on the other side of the list's completion, when instead the equation to reach simple (and
luxurious) living is to understand and cultivate true contentment in our lives first and then the priority list, the true priority list, becomes clear.
As we continue along our journey, the knowledge we gain gifts us with the ability to hone our list down even more concretely, thus making the decision-making simpler with each passing life experience.
May each day of your journey continue to lead you closer and closer to clarity, and may you as well, enjoy what you discovery.
In today's newsletter, home decor has become the unofficial topic of the past week on the blog with Monday's podcast episode sharing seven ways to cultivate an elegant home inspired by interior designer TImothy Corrigan's new decor book, Thursday's Decor Inspiration post sharing a tour of a remodeled British countryside farm that will tempt to entice you to combine comfort and regal
touches, as well as the top post of the week - a post inspired by my own experiences: 11 Decor Items to Purchase Even If You Don't Live in Your Dream Home Yet.
I am thoroughly enjoying sharing more decor posts with TSLL readers as ideas are dancing freely and abundantly about my mind (if only I can capture them all :)). After meeting with a potential contractor this week, my homework over the winter has been assigned: It will be a winter task to embrace with wholehearted appreciation and excitement - finding the colors, patterns, designs and
items that will help me form my house into my sanctuary - truthfully, an assignment I have been waiting to begin for years. I look forward to sharing inspiration that crosses my path and hopefully inspring you as well to cultivate your own unique sanctuary.
And now to the newsletter! Friday has arrived, and after a long week of extra hours due to conferences at school, I am excited to be home and savor the rain and potential snow that is suppose to greet us over the next two days. Wishing you a wonderful weekend, and until next Friday, I will see you on the blog. Bonne journée.
