,
It's okay not to know, and it is okay to just make it through.
A couple of new feelings and events have happened in my life that are leaving me dubious and a bit unsettled. In the back of my mind, I know that everything will be okay, but when foundational pieces of your everyday life are not running as you would like them to or as they used to or a relationship is shifting and the change is out of your hands as it is primarily a result of the other
people in the relationship, the ride of life can feel unsettling.
The first thing I remind myself to do is to take a deep breath. I then take a look around me and observe and remind myself of all that is going so wonderfully well, and then I just put one foot in front of the other, making sure that today is a great day, or the best that I can possibly make it or contribute to make it so for others as well.
What I am realizing is that when such unexpected "boat rocking" but not "boat tip-overing" moments enter into our lives, focusing on the present and remaining in the moment is even more important. Which then reminds me to make such a practice is even more of a priority when all is going smoothly.
So I have been soaking in the details of my everydays that I love: the weather, the sunshine, all of the moments with my dogs, the yard and plants that are flourishing in my yard and so much that I know I am fortunate to have in my life.
The truth about these unsettling moments in our lives is that we cannot always predict them; in fact, we rarely do, when or if they will arrive. They just happen, and we have to learn to engage in a constructive fashion. Sometimes that constructive fashion comes after a bit of reaction and befuddlement, but then we gather our composure and do what needs to be done and yes, we make it
through.
When we come out on the other side of these events there is the option to be changed and thus improve the quality of our lives as we have been given the opportunity to deepen our awareness and appreciation for all that we have and are able to do. And if we are able to do that, that's when we need to say thank you. Yes, thank you. Because even those events in our lives that perhaps right now are not making us all too happy or at peace, are in fact, wonderful
gifts of adding to the quality of our lives once we make it through them.
With that in mind, let's focus on today and make the most of it by kicking the day off with a great newsletter. :)
In this week's newsletter, the first episode of the second season of The Simply Luxurious Kitchen is shared - travel with me to France as Susan Herrmann Loomis makes a cameo, as well as travel with the boys and myself to the Oregon coast. Did you guess that I am sharing a seafood recipe? If so, you would be right. One of my favorite simpel seafood dishes.
As well, Anglophile TSLL readers are in for a treat this week as two posts are British inspired and in this week's This & That, the Duchess of Sussex's just-released Capsule Collection with Smart Works is linked.
Wishing you a lovely weekend and thank you for subscribing. Be sure to tune in this weekend for the second episode of the season for The Simply Luxurious Kitchen, and until next Friday, I will see you on the blog. Bonne journée.
