Stepping into the unknown can be terrifying, but it can also open up a world of realizing what truly delights and ignites our curiosities.
As I shared last week, the house hunting is in full throttle for me in Bend at the moment, and I want to thank TSLL readers who reached out with congratulations as well as advice from their own experience and expertise in the field of real estate. The process is moving forward, and so far, all is going well. Along the way, I am learning more and more about what is truly a necessity and what
are actually barriers we can place in our own way to thwart our own dreams from coming true.
The barriers we unconsciously put up in our lives will disable the progress we say we want to happen. Such barriers can be placed in any area of our lives, not just when it comes to house hunting. From finding and buildling strong relationships, traveling the path toward a career that
seems out of our capabilities, solidifying our finances, traveling to a dream destination or turning our current career into something that surpasses what is expected to be possible, until we look more closely, we may be the problem that needs fixing.
There are many ways to bring to our awareness these unconscious barriers we have placed. One is as simple as keep asking yourself why you are doing what you are doing or believing what you are believing - mine your answers and determine if there is any validity in what you have been telling yourself. And do not count yourself a source on the topic if it involves something or
someone else in any way. Another idea is to ask yourself what you are afraid of, and address the fears (often your fear is trying to tell you what to pursue rather than avoid - read this post). Address these fears by acknowledging their validity, but then break them down to see what is and what is not in your control. Often we are fearful of details we have no control over, and in such cases, we are not living live actively, but
rather passively.
Today, if you find yourself at a point in which you are longing for your something to change or progress, but it seems it is simply is stuck or impossible, consider self-reflection and begin by utilizing the two ideas above to make sure you are fully aware of your own participation in either your progress or your stagnation.
