,
So it happened this past April. I began considering places to explore for the upcoming second season of The Simply Luxurious Kitchen cooking show. Living in Oregon, and specifically Bend, Oregon, San Francisco is mentioned frequently in conversation for one reason or another, and knowing it is a hub for
delicious, seasonal and locally sourced produce, I quickly concluded my 15-year hiatus from visiting the city (an unconscious choice, as I have been wanting to return for some time) had no excuse to continue. Extending an invitation to my mom, who also had not visited the city for quite a few years, to travel with me, upon accepting, we booked our flight and hotel tout de suite.
Fast forward two months and having just returned from the Bay City after making our few day excursion this evening (Thursday), my appetite has been fully satiated as well as my appreciation deepened for the city.
I look forward to sharing not only what I saw and recommend - restaurants, the hotel we stayed along Fisherman's Wharf, consignment shops and more - but also recipes inspire by what delighted my tastebuds.
Until those posts are compiled, you can check out the itinerary we enjoyed in pictures and videos via TSLL's IG Stories Highlight section: SF Trip - Part 1 & 2. Throughout the next month, I will be sharing spotlight posts of each recommendation. Of course that means a new city will be added to the blog's Travel Guide - complete with map locations and all of the destinations I highly recommend in and around San Francisco. Look for it to be completed in the coming weeks.
And of course, look for much of what was seen, discovered, and experienced in the second season of The Simply Luxurious Kitchen which premieres Saturday September 7th with a new episode beign released on TSLL blog every Saturday for eight weeks.
Before we get to the newsletter, one of the many gifts of travel I experienced most fully during the trip to San Fran was when we have the opportunity to travel to a foreign country, especially a country whose primary language is not our own, the ease with which we travel to new a destination within our home country is greatly increased. In my experience, I was more prone not to hesitate to explore, engage or
learn something new because the benefit of knowing how to communicate clearly, respectfully and warmly with sincere interest is already in our toolbox. While there are many ways to communication even if we do not know the language, and to do so helps us keep the muscle of self-awareness and being present well toned, when we remove the language barrier, we open ourselves up to the opportunity of using the energy that would have been used by our minds to navigate with limited or no vocabulary to
instead do, try or explore something more that grabs our curiosity because we now have additional time to step forward and see what we might discover.
Speaking of curioisty, creativity often follows where our curiosity leads us, and in this week's episode of the podcast, listeners will discover 34 rituals to consider including in your everydays to welcome more creativity into your life no matter what or how you live your life or type of career in which you spend your work week. Also in this week's newsletter are 10 ways to enjoy grocery shopping (yes, it
really is possible) and tour a home by the Maine waterfront that will relax your mind the moment you see the front living room awash with natural light. Lastly, a new TSLL recipe was shared this week that is perfect for summer whether for a dinner party or a solo meal in the middle of the week.
Wishing you a happy and auspicious start to the summer season, and a rejuvenating and enjoyable weekend. Until next Friday, I will see you on the blog.
