,
Happy weekend (or almost weekend if you are reading this on Friday morning)!
With days that are getting wonderfully longer, and more and more melodies being sung by the neighborhood birds as they nest, I must say, May is a delightful month to savor.
Last weekend I tended to some plant deaths as the frost took a few of my more delicate annuals that I neglected to bring inside, and now, finally the porch and patio are set for warm weather with plants that are basking in the warm weather, happy to bloom and blossom. The fuschia is hung, the sweet potato vines are swinging over the edges and the basil was finally placed in the garden (although,
I am watching the nightly temperatures, just in case, until June).
Having an outdoor living space is a luxury indeed, especially since I didn't have a backyard in my last home that was tucked away from the street. Over the past weekend, I spent some time in the hammock, reading and napping, wrote a post or two on the back porch and even discovered some exciting news while swinging away on that hammock that has changed my plans for the summer. While I won't reveal all the
details yet, I will share here with TSLL newsletter subscribers only that I have the good fortunate to return to some place I love visiting this summer. I cannot wait to share more and promise to do some in the coming weeks.
With all of that said, I don't want to wish May away. May is a lovely month - warm, but not too warm, offering the occasional rainy day, the grass and trails are green and lush, the birds return and gently nudge us to start the day, and the peonies, tulips and daffodils are fresh and blooming for their limited, but gloriously beautiful moment in the sunshine.
In this week's newsletter, you will find a book I am currently reading and thoroughly enjoying (for all of you music lovers, be sure to take a look), a French shopping site that is full of beautiful summer pieces for your summer travel if you are looking for that perfect dress, pair of shoes or blouse, as well as a cozy London flat that includes an armchair that has caught my eye, and not just because of its namesake, which I adore.
I do hope you have a wonderful weekend, and to all of the moms celebrating Mother's Day this weekend (yes, fur baby mamas too!), happy Mother's Day from TSLL. May your nurturing and support inspire others to reach their full potential as you model doing so yourself as well. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
