Opportunity is everywhere. Residing in the obvious good times when all about are smiles and joy, but also during the uncertainty and frustrating times as well.
I was thinking about this lately when I read a letter from the Editor to readers of The New York Times encouraging (actually more like pleading) for more women to write into the Editor. It was a fascinating and
insightful article to read, but the truth is fewer women actually do write in to share their thoughts on news. Now, my letter today isn't about news or women or anything specific, but it was an opportunity to cease if you wanted to have an increased opportunity for your voice to be heard on topics that matter to you.
Often, opportunity doesn't show up; it is actually found in the void - where there is something missing, something lacking.
When we are making our way through unwanted times or undesirable situations, it is during these times that we should look for what is missing. What is it that you had hoped you would experience, hear, see, learn or acquire? What is that one little or one grand detail that would make a significant difference for the better?
That is where the opportunity resides, which makes me think, how lucky are we? To have both opportunities dancing for us during good times, and opportunities, even though they are playing hide and seek, during unwelcome times as well. Opportunity truly is everywhere, and it is being aware that
enables us to find them.
I hope today's letter helps you to see potential no matter where your journey finds you today. I found myself in a similar situation this week, and the opportunity made me smile with glee. I do not know when I will be able to bring it to life - most likely years down the road - but I finally have seen the opportunity that has been quietly dancing about me for many years prior.
In today's newsletter, a regular monthly post that has quickly become one of readers' favorites returns this last week of January - What Has Made Me Smile This Month. As I share in this post, January was a lovely month, and not for anything spectacular to the outside world, but to me, I treasured it, and am thankful for how it ushered in 2019. I hope your January went well also. This week's podcast
episode focused on Resilience, and most specifically, how exercising this awesome skill during good times, enables our everydays to become even more extraordinary. Oh, and the Petit Plaisir this week was one of my favorites in quite some time. Be sure to take a listen to find out why I enjoyed it so.
Well, February has arrived, and what a lovely month to enjoy. Perhaps a monthly ritual will be enjoyed this weekend to say hello - oh, why yes! I will be taking a trip to Portland this weekend, so be sure to follow along on Instagram. Thank you for choosing to subscribe to TSLL's weekly newsletter, and until next
Friday, I'll see you on the blog.
