If opportunity knocked one minute from now, what would you do? Would you recognize it, would you doubt it, would you ignore it, or would you step gladly forward without any promise?
The simplest and most accurate definition I have found to define opportunity is preparation crossing paths with our life journey - a force that is beyond our control to slow down, speed up or wait while we get ready.
Nope, opportunity keeps chugging along at its own, comfortable pace. Sometimes that pace is mock-80, and in other instances it is a steady 30-minute mile. Just yesterday I had the experience of crossing paths with opportunity, and what made it easier to say yes without a moment's hesitation was that I was eager to share, pounce, communicate and ready and prepared to do so. That last part is the
key.
That is the funny thing as well about preparing, often we don't know all that we are preparing for. It is only in hindsight that we realize, "Oh yeah, having that particular experience beforehand, or that preparation of a particular skill, came in quite handy when the opporunity did present
itself".
As much as we want to know the future, we cannot know if all the planning we have invested will play out or render the results we are hoping for. But in order for anything positive to occur, we have to begin with the preparations with a hopeful heart.
Today, examine what you are preparing for. What goodness are you opening your life up to, so that when it does cross your path, and even when others may say, "Oh, that's too bad - there's no way you could make that happen", only you know that you actually are more than ready because you have been preparing - waiting for this moment to arrive.
