The universe is a fantastic beast of wisdom.
I am choosing to label it as such because whether you call it the universe as I do,
God, the Divine, Goddess or nothing at all, life has a funny way of speaking to us and nudging us along, if we would pay attention.
Lately, I have had a handful of experiences that I did not intentionally create (although, logically there were clear-cut reasons as to why they happened the way they did), and some I sincerely did not want, but on the other side looking back, they were quite fortunate. Some have afforded me more time to breathe, savor and appreciate the
everyday, others have saved me money and still others have been only minor headaches that could have been far worse.
So how do we know when the universe is speaking to us? Well, perhaps it is speaking to us all the time, and in this same breath I would say, we have all the answers within each of us if only we would pay attention, listen closely and quiet ourselves regularly. I find that when the universe steps in, it is because I have not been listening to myself
very well (or at all). Often the door opens to an opportunity I wasn't seeing, but it is still up to me to see it, seize it and then express gratitude at what I might have labeled as bad fortunate if I ignored what the change of plans/events/etc. had brought to my attention.
Today consider as you reflect on your life moments in which certain unwanted events had to happen in order to bring you something you now deeply appreciate. I have a feeling you have more
moments such as these than you realize. And when this realization is reached, remember to regularly take the time to tune into your inner compass on a regular basis so that perhaps those unwanted moments can be avoided more often than not. After all, nobody wants their car to die on the drive to work leaving you to walk in your heels, but at least it was only two blocks - just enough to cause pause and eventual appreciation as well as a reminder of many good fortunates (read last week's
letter from the editor to hear about this story).
Well, it is November and that means the holiday season has in many ways begun if you consider Halloween as the kick-off. As well, with November's beginning, it means fewer than two weeks away to the release day of
TSLL's new book! Oh my goodness, I am truly giddy and eager as a race horse
for you to dive in. Internationally preordered copies are on their way to their final destination and soon those readers who ordered their copy to be delivered here in the states will have their copy en route as well. Rest assured, they will be arriving on or before November 13th for you to enjoy. Be sure to share its arrival in simply luxurious style when it arrives and tag
@thesimplyluxuriouslife on Instagram. I would love to see a glimpse of your very own #mysimplyluxuriouslife.
In today's newsletter discover the last episode of the first season of
The Simply Luxurious Kitchen - a simple French fall dessert, and a podcast episode that dives into a new book I thoroughly appreciated as
it speaks to the ability to not only be successful in our careers, but remain nice as we rise. There is much more to enjoy - a review of Ina Garten's new cookbook, one of my favorite Petit Plaisirs (if you love food and travel, you'll enjoy it as well I have a feeling), a Ralph Lauren sale not to miss and much more.
If you are new to TSLL weekly newsletter, welcome to our weekly moment to slow down, sip something warm and delicious and savor inspiration, beauty
and ideas about how to live simply luxuriously - in other words, an approach to a life of fulfillment without the excess.
To all subscribers, I do hope you have a wonderful start to November, and if you're in the states, don't forget to fall back an hour this Sunday morning (yeah!). I will be savoring the evanescent mornings with more daylight while they last and most definitely indulging in that extra hour of sleep this weekend. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog!
