Living in the moment.
Such a beautiful way to live as it asks of us simply to pay attention to the world as it is in the
present.
This week there were beautiful moments and there were extremely sad moments. None of which I could have predicted when the week began. With each, I did my best to step into them, to embrace them, to not push them aside and take them for granted, to find the beauty and be still with those moments as much as I could.
One such unexpected moment I feel fortunate to have had the awareness to savor was capturing a rainbow
on my walk with the boys as I shared on
Instagram, and another beautiful moment occurred yesterday as after school the weather was truly lovely with warmth and blue skies. I pounced. Taking the boys with me, we went on a walk to catch our breath and stretch our legs. Realizing days such as
this one offered were fewer as winter nears, I didn't want to miss a beat (and Norman especially was happy to oblige).
When we are choosing to be present, we are giving ourselves a gift. Perhaps the word itself is a simple reminder to celebrate each day. By letting ourselves feel what we feel, doing so in a healthy manner, walking it out, journaling it out, crying it out, dancing it out, whatever it may be, so long as we do not run from it, bury it or dismiss
it, we become more human. Our ability to empathize with others in present and future moments we cannot even predict is more possible than it was before.
The more we remind ourselves to be human, be entirely what it is to be human, the richer our lives become for a myraid of reasons. And feeling and exploring our emotions is certainly a significant and amazing part of what it means to be human.
Today, I want to wish you
a lovely weekend. A weekend of sunshine, of a hot cup of tea/coffee moments, of outside wonderment moments, of laughing and being playful moments, of doing whatever makes you smile instanteously moments. Thank you for subscribing and until next week, I'll see you on the blog!
