The paradox of comfort is often we can gain it by giving it to others who need it as well. Maybe it is in an instance where we know someone may be exhausted,
scared, hurt or worried, and we know because we are riding the same wave of emotions. In these moments of giving what I myself need, I have found something quite surprising.
By being observant of others' feelings and offering comfort in a way that is within our abilities and desires to do, we tangentially receive comfort and a deep breath of peace ourselves.
We may never know exactly how much or how little or maybe even at all our
offering helped, but if the giving is done sincerely, gently and without expectation, you may just be surprised by what you feel afterwards.
This week I received comfort from someone who gave without expectation and from a place of sincerity. It buoyed the start of my week all the more. We may never know how far our kindness will extend as it may inspire other acts of kindness. The maxim "pay it forward" comes to mind, but what an awesome energy to be putting
out into the world, non?
On this last weekend of September, may your peace be much, your sleep be deep and may you know that while yes, we need to pay attention to what is going on in the world and stay an active participant in a manner that works best for our temperament and life demands, it's also okay to step back, take a respite and take care of ourselves. Be sure to tune in to Monday's episode of the podcast (October 1st) where I will share a few ideas for
doing just this - caring for ouselves.
In this week's newsletter, posts to provoke thought, posts to offer ideas for making positive shifts in our everydays and much more. This past week's episode of The Simply Luxurious Kitchen sparked some great comments and reader engagement on both the blog and YouTube, and I want to thank everyone who stopped by and tuned in. I am extremely excited about this Saturday's episode as it was inspired by a reader's
question regarding how to work with flavor in the kitchen. I will be cooking four different recipes, sharing 6 simple ways to add flavor year-round. I do hope you check it out, and now let's get to the newsletter! Until next week, I'll see you on the blog!
