,
I fell asleep earlier this week to the first evening of steadily falling rain pattering on the roof, the porch and through the pine needles on the trees in my backyard. I think I fell
asleep smiling.
It is the beautiful little moments such as this that do not happen every single day, that make living life well in the everydays priceless.
I enjoyed a phone conversation with a dear friend who is one of the first review readers of the second book of TSLL (to be released on November 13th), and our conversation made me feel so very fortunate. Needless to say, I cannot wait to share with you what I have been
working on for basically the past four years, but doggedly since last June.
I walked along the river with my boys one afternoon this week and seeing them walk with happy steps made me giddy to be able to share my life with such lovely companions.
What moments did you savor this week as you went about your everyday routine? I have a feeling you could share quite a few, and even if it takes a moment, it is in the remembering
that we are reminded ever more why we need to savor and be fully present in our lives.
It can be easy to rush, to hustle and think we cannot slow down. I too have these moments, as I hustle to make it school in time for my morning office hours and sometimes don't arrive precisely as early as I had hoped. But then I remind myself that when I hustle, I lose a minute, or five for perhaps 30 to enjoy life. Yes, we do need to be respectful of others' time and to not be
late, but paying mind to this, making sure to slow down will help our moods and thus the quality of our overall lives.
As I step into my spring holiday this coming week from school, I am going to do my best to just enjoy the everyday, moment by moment, even more than I already have been able to. As I am not traveling anywhere far and wide (except to Portland to appear as a guest to talk about two topics you might want to check out - one is about daily
routines! - see below for all the details), I could not be more tickled to be staying home: to catch my breath, to have some fun in the kitchen, to just be and do as I please. Yes, this upcoming week will be something sweet to savor.
I hope you too are looking ahead to a weekend and week in which simply savoring the everyday routines you have in place, and moments you have the opportunity to be a part of, make you thankful and excited to
experience.
In today's newsletter, you will see the theme of spring running through many of the posts (and even one inspired by summer plans). From this week's episode of the podcast (be sure to check out the Petit Plaisir my fellow Francophiles), to a post that went live on the first day of spring, inspiration abounds for stepping gladly and with a chipper mood into the new season. Speaking of which, high on my to-do list this weekend is to pick up more
fresh daffodils, as one of the 10 ways shared in
this post this week to welcome the spring season. Their season is oh so short, so I want to savor them while I can.
Thank you for choosing to subscribe to TSLL's weekly newsletter, and may your weekend ahead bring a deep breath of respite and
tranquility. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
