ISSUE #391

,

I have found it to be true, even as most recently as this week, that when we push what we think are the boundaries of our limitations, we open up ourselves to bigger previously-perceived-to-be-impossible options that we now consider as viable considerations.

Both the "scary" endeavor I, after long last, chose to pursue (incorporating my business) and an even bolder venture in my personal life (which I hope someday to share with everyone here on the blog) were in alignment with dreams I have always held and continue to strive for. And it is in such moments that Henry David Thoreau's quote remains true:

"I learned this, at least, by my experiment [staying in the small cabin in the woods near Walden pond for two years]: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings. In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness. If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.” —Henry David Thoreau, Walden

As I shared in this week's episode of the podcast, chasing our dreams comes with some unexpected and some expected "bills", but they are all bills worth paying. Ultimately, the return on the investment we make regarding our dreams is unknown, but as I have been experiencing thus far in my life, beautiful, unexpected occurrences and opportunities continue to present themselves so long as I choose to believe in my journey. And you should as well, believe in what is speaking to you, what always has your heart and your mind and keep striving forward.

As the mid-point of February has now come and gone, the second half of the shortest, but often most lovely (no pun intended) month of the year for a variety of simple (and some personal) reasons is immediately in front of us. Often the most unexpected, unassuming months can be quite grand in our journey toward attaining our resolutions, and I want to encourage you to not give up. Research has shared that nearly 80% of people often come to a halt by mid-February, but why not refuse to stop trying? Yes, we may all have setbacks, but that doesn't mean we cannot keep being disciplined. So we're one week off our timeline, so long as the goal is closer, we can still accomplish it.

Okay, now to the newsletter. I do hope you enjoy. Have a beautiful weekend, and until next week, I'll see you on the blog.

-Shannon
