The magic of time.
It can often seem to those of us who want our dreams to materialize now, within a matter of minutes or days or
weeks, that nothing happens quickly enough, and thus will never happen. But the magic of time can either work with us or against us.
In this week's This & That I share an article that talks about the myths of getting older. So much of what is perceived as the inevitable occurrences when we increase in years is actually not inevitable. Rather, it is our negligence in
taking care of our bodies, our minds and building a life that is full of substance, joy and balance of productivity and play that as the time compounds yields the effect so many equate with old age. While yes, someone may be older, and yes, it is because time has compounded the effects have happened, it is how they have lived that caused the negative effects.
Now I am by no
means saying one can live forever, but the quality of our lives can well be increased and surpass what we may even believe can be a full and most amazing life as the years pass by.
The same is true for real success. Achieving real success is not a short-time venture. It takes time. However, because we are impatient, we can spend the interim between now and potentially
achieving our dream whining, worrying or giving up which will never lead us to where we want to go.
Instead, come to understand that real success can happen when we allow it the time to mature, strengthen and determine if indeed what we seek is what we truly do desire. Then, so long as we stay the course, almost like magic, the success will materialize. And while
the materialization will occur years down the road, so long as it is a journey you wish to be on, you, for yourself, for a dream you hold dear, the journey will be filled with everyday joyful and pleasure-filled moments.
So today, let the angst that impatience is causing roll off your back, and rest-assured you will meet with success at a time when your journey is meant to meet
with success. Simply by understanding such truth, you are already successful as you have brought back to your being more energy, more contentment and less worry.
At some unexpected moment, just like that it will happen, and it may not be a surprise as it will feel as though it was meant to be.
And just like that a new season begins. Today is fall (or spring, depending upon where you call home). And sometimes it feels like only a moment has passed since summer began, but in the same breath I feel as though summer was a very long journey. A beautiful, eye-opening journey which makes the new season's commencement all the more welcome.
Upon strolling through the
market this past week as storm clouds hovered, seeing the pumpkins (view my IG here for a glimpse), the pears, the apples and the remaining melons that had to be enjoyed before they would no longer be available, I couldn't help but just savor such a fleeting lovely moment. Thankfully, there are many fleeting moments that together have
made for lovely memories and it is my hope for you as well that we each have many more beautiful fleeting moments in our everydays moving forward.
