Being observant of how you are living your life, what is working, what is not, is a worthwhile practice for a variety of reasons. One, being the opportunity to reflect on how something may have worked and apply the same methodology in the future as well as the
contrary if something did not work out as you had hoped and learning from the mistakes.
However, sometimes we don't recognize when we become too analytical, especially if doing so is a habit that we practice regularly. And it often takes unexpected occurrences to remind us to stop the analysis and just strive forward, trusting in ourselves.
I was reminded to let go of worry recently when a horrific wildfire erupted this past
weekend in the Columbia Gorge, the stunning, majestic Columbia Gorge. Along with what became named as the Eagle Creek fire, 25 other fires continue to burn in Oregon and it wasn't until yesterday that the rains finally came. And when they decided to fall, they erupted onto the ground a fierce pounding of moisture.
For a handful of hours the sky was clear of smoke, the air was fresh and I was instantly reminded how fortunate we are to live where we do and to
appreciate all that is indeed going well.
So much of the world's events, including Mother Nature's actions are out of our control, but much are within. With education, curiosity and courage, we can put the odds in our favor, we can ensure the deck is stacked in the favor which will be pleasing and when we accept that we are the masters of our fate in so many ways throughout our waking hours, the tranquility we are seeking is revealed to be within our grasp. In fact
standing in front of us all along.
So today, if you are deep in thought, perhaps even worry, take a moment to reflect on what you are doing to put the outcomes of life in your favor. And then, relax, enjoy and remember, you never know when Mother Nature will gift us with the unexpected goodness we long for, and so when it does arrive, be able to recognize it, stop and soak it up.
Something I neglected to share with newsletter
subscribers last week was the opportunity to participate in a survey about a potential option that will be made available to TSLL readers.
You can read the entire post here as to how this idea came about, or you jump right to the six question survey
here. Essentially, readers asked and I took note, and in so doing have been looking for ways to offer an ad-free blog option for anyone who would like to pay a small monthly subscription fee. Don't worry, the original format will remain for anyone looking for daily inspiration free of charge, but perhaps you want a break from the ads, all the while
knowing you will discover regular quality content each time you visit TSLL. Well, today you have an opportunity to share what that option might look like, and I am always listening closely to my readers have to say.
TSLL readers also asked a question that I answered in detail in Wednesday's post about my skincare and make-up routine, so be sure to take a look to discover the products I love and use daily.
As September begins, I
am enjoying the shift of schedules. How about you? It certainly helps when the rain falls calming the heat, quality movies are in the theaters (check out this week's This & That) and good friends will be meeting for a nice catch-up chat. Wishing you a lovely weekend, and until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
