ISSUE #367

,

As I lay in bed typing tonight in my second home away from home having been in Portland these past two nights, the floor to ceiling windows overlooking downtown Portland (check out the studio vacation rental in my IG Stories if reading this within 24 hours of the newsletter's arrival), the buzz of night life below and the serenity of settling into a cozy temporary sanctuary remind me of why I love the everydays I have created in Bend.

No matter how far away life takes us from what we define as our true home (physical or emotional), if we live consciously, if we are in tune with ourselves, our needs, our self-worth and our die-hard dreams, coming home will feel like the most natural decision to make. Over time, this realization is far less questioned and simply respected as we know where our true north lies.

Along the journey of cultivating my own simply luxurious life and continuing to maintain and improve it, I have become more acutely aware when something is pulling me away from my "home". And the beautiful gift that has come with this instinctive realization is that is it easy to stand up, to speak up to rise up and say, "no, I cannot walk any further from the destination that not only comforts me but lifts me up to help me reach my fullest potential".

Today, ask yourself, are you home or is something (a demand, a job, a way of life) pulling you off course? The more you step forward on the journey of self-discovery and cultivation of the life that enlivens you and enables you to find true contentment, the less likely you will be pulled away from "home"; and if you do get distracted, you won't be distracted for long before you put your foot down and say, nope.

I want to thank all of the TSLL readers and listeners who reached out to me via email, IG comments or comments on the blog in response to the two segments I had this week on KATU-TV. Hearing your continued interest in living simply luxuriously makes me smile as I listen to your stories of elevation in your own life as you begin to tune in to what makes you truly content and honor what you discover.

Speaking of KATU, if you missed the live online option to view the segments (Wednesday and Thursday), I have the entire versions in this week's newsletter. With one segment entirely dedicated to Simplifying Weekly Routines, be sure to check out the post as I share even more than what we had time to talk about during the interview. On AM Northwest, I spoke about how to cultivate a capsule wardrobe (and even brought my own on the set for viewers to see). Be sure to take a look if you are beginning to edit and update your 15 item fall capsule, and remember that on Friday September 1st (a week from today), TSLL Fall 2017 Shopping Guide will be available to subscribers and on the blog to help you navigate the trends and discover what is worth splurging on and what is not.

Well, how about I wrap this up and let you enjoy the newsletter with your hot cuppa? Thank you as always for subscribing and I do hope you have a lovely weekend. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.

-Shannon
