,
I had the opportunity to work in my yard this past week. I began to trim shrubs and clean up the yard as most of the grass was now exposed after the melted snow had said its goodbyes. I tried to remember the last day I tinkered in the yard, and I recall it was as far back as October. Over four months
ago.
Four months ago.
Sometimes due to circumstance and events that are out of our control, no matter how much we want to welcome them into our lives and revel in them, we forget the routines, rituals and simple pleasures that unconsciously slip away and make room for the new. It is not to say that what has caused the change is bad, it is just that we focus intently on, as was the case for me, the upcoming holidays, digging out from
the snow and heading to the mountain to ski while the snow remained.
I am thankful for life's patience as the opportunity I spoke of above was the reminder of what brings me great peace and pleasure without costing much money, if any, or requiring grand planning. I can simply just step outside, put my boots on and trim, dig, and decorate to create a space outdoors that is right outside my front and back doors.
After feeling the
natural elation after two hours outside, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on any other rituals that I had let go for no other reason than a changing schedule or the changing seasons. What do I need to make sure I welcome back? What makes me smile? What makes me lose all track of time no matter who is in my company? How about you? Are there any favorite rituals, hobbies or activities you want to bring back into your routine? Why not contemplate how to do so in the coming weeks
as we get ready for spring. A perfect platform for starting new and refreshed.
In this week's newsletter, life lessons as well as an essential life tool will be discussed in depth in two separate posts. As well, I have found a pinstripe dress for work at a wonderful l price that you will want to check out for the coming spring months.
Wishing you a lovely last weekend in February, and guess what spring (or fall) is just around the corner. I
can hardly wait. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
