The wonderful gift that life gives us is infinite opportunities to grow and learn. Not only about ourselves but about the world around us. The key, or the catch, is that we have to seek out this knowledge. We have to be brave in many regards because often what we find or discover isn't always information we want to
hear.
However, it has been my experience thus far that while I may not want to hear the news I discover or the information I unearth, my awareness allows me to make better decisions moving forward which enables me to live more contently. For example, when we realize that the advice we have been receiving perhaps from a mentor, a loved one or friend is coming from a place of pain or ignorance rather than a place of wisdom and unconditional support, while we can still
love them, we can perhaps better be able to put their words in context and understand why their guidance may not have worked for us in the past. While discovering this truth throughout our lives, such knowledge actually frees us, allows us to be reminded that we need to look within and trust when we know something is in alignment with our direction and when it is not instead of seeking confirmation from outside of ourselves.
Speaking of alignment, it
was the producer of a new show who, having listened to the podcast, reached out to invite me to be a guest and talk about living simply luxuriously this past summer. And so, last Friday, I had an opportunity to make my first televised appearance talking about a way of life I sincerely believe in and try to live to the best of my ability each day. While I will admit, I had more than a few nerves about going on air, being invited to appear as a guest on Portland's KATU-TV new show "Afternoon
Live" was an experience I won't soon forget. Be sure to take a look at the entire segment and readers comments
