,
This past week I was playing fetch with my dogs, and in one toss of the ball, Norman and I both ended up looking fruitlessly for it as it took an interesting bounce. However, it at first seemed we had looked everywhere, every possible corner, nook and avenue it could have slipped into. After stopping our search for a moment, I couldn't help but return to look for a ball that I refused to
believe just magically disappeared. So Norman and I went back to search, and in a most unlikely spot, we found it, and oh, was he overjoyed.
I began to think about how life often takes a similar course. Sometimes it may seem that what we seek, even after carefully mapping out our steps and tirelessly tending to all of the
boxes, disappears from our grasp, making it impossible to make our own. But, sometimes we haven't checked all of the possibilities as to how to make it happen. Sometimes we have been so focused on what we were told would happen if we approached it a certain way that we have ignored other ideas and methods.
Don't think for one
minute that what you desire cannot happen. I am on a journey toward a few significant life goals myself, and I have been thrown some unexpected loops that initially left me doubtful that I could make it my reality, but then I remind myself that the determined always find a way. Because there is a way if we look for it and never stop looking even when initially it doesn't materialize.
Norman and I quickly went back to playing fetch as Oscar observed, and the pleasure and joy he had on his face when he found what he thought was lost as well (it was of course his favorite ball) serves as a simple reminder of the satisfaction and joy we can find when we help ourselves out by refusing to give up on what we truly feel drawn to bring into our lives. Dogs and their balls, people and their dreams. The combinations of true
contentment just seem to go together.
