Progress and plateaus. I have been thinking about how life progresses after speaking with blogger and author Sharon Santoni in this week's episode of the podcast. She mentioned this concept regarding how the blogging venture she has been on for more than six years has a progression of movement and then plateaus. And after much contemplation, I came to
grasp this life truth more fully and found great comfort.
Simply because we aren't progressing at the speed or pace we would like doesn't mean we aren't making movement forward toward our goals; however, what tends to happen if
we allow our mind to control our thoughts is that we compare our turtle pace to that of the bursts we've experienced previously. Understandably those bursts were thrilling, wondrous and adrenaline-racing experiences, but when we do slow down, and our minds aren't sparking as quickly as we'd like, it doesn't mean they won't again in the future.
So long as we keep trying out new ideas, gaining new information and ultimately stimulating our mind and challenging ourselves, the quick, heart-pumping pace and creative bursts will come again. And to know this life truth is to give ourselves comfort and reassurance.
In many ways our minds are resting up before the next big game. After all, as an athlete, the night before a game is not the time to expend energy. Rather, it is a time to rest, become focused and become clear about what will occur the next day on the floor/court/field, etc. Life, much like the seasons, is cyclical; the
only difference is, we get to carry our new found knowledge and life experience with us to the next big peak which further enhances the experience.
With that said, may the new month of April find you being gentle with yourself, and whether you are
resting on a plateau for a moment or peaking, trust that even the smallest of steps forward make will keep the momentum going in the right direction for when the wind picks up yet again, as it inevitably will.
In this week's newsletter, you are in for a
treat. As I mentioned at the top of today's newsletter, Sharon Santoni, the creator of My French Country Home and author of My Stylish French Girlfriends joined me on The Simple Sophisticate from Normandy, France, and what a wonderful conversation we had. Be
sure to stop by the blog as well as tune in as you will find a day in the life of Sharon seen through her camera's lens. Also, you will want to enter the giveaway of one of her books by simply leaving a comment by this Sunday. One lucky winner will receive her new book which I highly recommend.
And since it is April 1st that means the semi-annual TSLL Spring Shopping Guide has just been released! This season the collections are flush with beauty and chic attire. I thoroughly enjoyed pulling it together and do hope you enjoy. If you are already a subscriber to this newsletter, you should have
received a separate email with the shopping guide (however, there is a link and preview at the end of this newsletter - simply click and shop!).
So much to enjoy, appreciate and be reminded of regarding the amazing lives we have the fortune to live. All
readily available to be curated to our tastes, passions and inklings. I do hope you have a lovely weekend. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog!
