,
I recently had a conversation with someone about preparing for the next season. The suggestion was made that in order to enjoy the season, any season to its fullest, preparation must be made well before the season begins. For example, if you're a skier, making sure your skis are waxed and ready to go for the first snow; if you're a paddle boarder, to have your
board and rack on your car set up so as to take advantage of the first unexpectedly warm day. And in hearing the reasoning, I can absolutely see the benefit.
After all, there is nothing like the first time doing
something when you've been unable to partake for an entire year, but I must say, there is as well something to savoring the last days of each of the seasons the year offers. For example, these first weekends in March are still chilly in the morning and evening, so much so that the furnace kicks on and returning home after a long walk, the warmth of the house is a welcomed burst to walk
across the threshold and feel upon my face.
So perhaps what I am suggesting is to strike a balance. Perhaps we shouldn't wish the current season away too quickly because when it is over, we won't
see it for quite some time, but at the same time do a few things here and there that allow for the next season to begin with celebration and the ability to fully appreciate it. For example, spring cleaning, I love the feeling when the floors get a deep cleaning, closets get reorganized and the big jobs like cleaning out the refrigerator or editing the garage are complete and a treat to view when the door opens. But at the same time, why not savor those mornings snuggling in to
your favorite chair with a hot cup of chocolat and your favorite pajamas? Such moments are quite sweet as well.
Speaking of sweet, the blog schedule had made a few quality changes and everything is shared in this
week's Thoughts from the Editor post. Be sure to have a look to see how TSLL is moving forward.
I don't know about you but the arrival of the weekend is a grand thing indeed. I do hope you have a
wonderful few days off to relax, unwind and enjoy. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog!
