Perspective is a powerful gift we can give ourselves for a wide range of scenarios in our lives. Studies have shown that the honeymoon phase of anything new that we are elated with initially will subside in time. For marriage, two years, for a change regarding lifestyle: location, job, etc. six months. The length varies, but the blissful stage diminishes because we have
become acclimated with our new way of living.
Certainly, becoming comfortable with our way of life is a good state to be in. It conveys we feel secure to some degree and stable knowing what to expect and how to get
along. But what is always needed is the ability to have perspective.
I am thinking of a quote that I cannot seem to locate but the gist is "Appreciate what you have now, for it was once what you had hoped for."
Because we become acclimated, because we become comfortable, we can unconsciously forget what we fought and worked so hard for to arrive at the place we are now. Perhaps it is a degree, perhaps it is a particular income or level of intimacy we share with a loved one. Whatever it is, the overall reminder is we have a tremendous amount to be appreciative for.
Most importantly, we must remind ourselves that dreams cannot materialize with the snap of the fingers. They cannot transpire when we want them to. Why? Because it takes time, and because life is wise. Why would life give us what we asked for if it wasn't sure we truly wanted it? We must demonstrate that we have thought what we
seek through and then have shown we are willing to sacrifice and prioritize our life so that we might attain it. Life is patient, and it asks that we build patience too. After all, "Patience is not the ability to wait, but how you act while you are waiting."
The time between when you set forth your desires and the moment you acquire what you have wished for is what will determine your success. What are you doing while you are you being patient? Are you whining or are you working? Are you savoring or are you worrying? Again the contentment we experience is determined by the quality of our everydays which is the topic of this week's episode of the podcast. Discover how to ensure your
everydays are magnificent with 15 key habits is talked about in detail on the podcast.
