To go about the day and want nothing more than to savor the normalcy is an extraordinary place to reach in our lives. What does it mean when we reach this point? Usually, it means we've done quite a bit of work, succeeded through struggles and come to appreciate where we are because in most aspects, it is where we want to be.
It may not be where we want to be forever, but we appreciate that we are in a good place. And as I shared on this past week's Au Courant Weekly "Thought to Ponder", appreciating is a powerful state of
mind.
Where are you in your life? How do you feel when you wake up in the morning? Are you excited for the day to begin? Do you have something to look forward to within the 16 hours or so that you are awake each day? If not, why not? What can you tweak, change, so that the everyday can be more of a pleasure than a
struggle?
It's possible, but it does take conscious effort to cultivate an everyday life that feels as though it is a privilege to live. And it does require of us to be willing to be uncomfortable as we go
through necessary change to reach the place we seek.
In the newspaper this week, I noticed an article about successfully attaining the resolutions we set for ourselves as the new year began. And the point was simple,
but a worthwhile reminder: change takes time and it requires small steps. Habits, good or bad, take about three weeks to drill into our memory whether it is our muscle memory, daily routine memory of eating, thinking or doing. But it is possible. Have patience with yourself, but know that the change you seek can happen.
In this week's episode of the podcast, patience is mentioned a couple of times, but the topic is trusting the timing of your life. If you are wondering which way you should go or if you should keep striving for something that doesn't appear to be working, be sure to have a listen. I think it will provide the reassurance you are looking for.
