Patience. A theme often mentioned here on TSLL blog is something that has been on my mind lately for a variety of reasons. The quote I included in this week's newsletter (found at the bottom left-hand corner), prompted me immediately to nod my head in agreement: "You can't rush something you want to last forever".  Whether it is friendship, a hard-to-attain goal, financial security, anything pertaining to your ideal life, it will take time.

A maxim I've always believed is that if anything arrives without effort, it must be questioned. Not that I will toss it away, but in order to be assured of its legitimacy, it must be questioned. As I reflect back on my life: The houses I've purchased, the ideal rental that I feel fortunate to have found in Bend, the dear friends I feel blessed to have in my life and now the blog's loyal readership and sincere interest by you, the readers, is something that did not occur without effort, time and a testing to see if indeed I truly knew and would appreciate what I was seeking if indeed I acquired it.

As a result, I have discovered that life will offer us choices. Depending upon where we are in our life's journey and what we have learned so far, life will offer the temporal pleasures that immediately garner our attention, and if we are ignorant to what they truly offer, we often bite until we are bitten. It isn't until we either learn the lesson or exhibit patience to wait for and gradually discover that which is worth discovering that life will offer us a treasure to appreciate. But even if we know what is worth the wait, it will take time to acquire and enjoy.

Such a simple life truth often has to be learned first hand to be realized. Partly because when we are ignorant it is because we are insecure in who we are, what we want and where we want to take our lives. As we travel along, making discoveries and memories along the way, it is a comfort these temporal pleasures. And to some degree, this isn't all bad. After all, often we don't know what we want, and it is in experiencing these short-lived moments that will become nostalgic memories to reflect upon when we are wiser, we often learn a very valuable lesson: Perhaps something about ourselves or which direction we know we must or must not travel.

The golden ring to reach, as I am discovering is finally arriving at what it is we wish to seek, what is worth waiting for. And it is at this point that the waiting is no longer a bother because we know it is worth it. There is comfort in knowing we've found our way no matter how long it takes to arrive. And so my hope and wish for you is to find this happy place of being comfortable with patience, because that will speak volumes of your peace of mind with the direction of your life.

And so too is the long wait for the weekend worth the journey because even though it is two short days, it is still two days of our own. In this week's newsletter you will discover the episode of the podcast about the benefits of perspective, another Outfit of the Week which includes ankle boots and a cottage where a Hollywood starlet calls home that is absolutely lovely. Also, NYFW has just wrapped up, but that doesn't mean you can't catch up on the highlights. Be sure to check out my NYFW Spring 2016 Pinterest board to seed all of my favorite runway designs.

Wishing you a rejuvenating and invigorating weekend. Thank you for choosing to subscribe to TSLL weekly newsletter, and until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
