,
Well, I do believe we are assuredly in September. And I couldn't help but consider the symbolism of the autumn season
as it compares to life itself. The coming fall is often one of the most beautiful and majestic seasons. I noticed just in the past two days, the shrubs in my front yard beginning to turn to a stunning ruby red, and it reminded me that the only way to see the true bounty of fall is to have a full, warm, perhaps extremely hot summer.
In other words we must soak up all the knowledge life makes available to us during our days of youthful and middle adulthood. We must not become complacent with ignorance, and if we manage the opportunity and temptation well, our fall or settling in years, has a greater chance of being magnificent.
At the moment, I am seeing years of experience in a particular avenue of life paying off as I pursue a dream I wasn't sure would be feasible, especially not so soon in my life. While unofficially everything is working out, I won't know for certain for a while, but what I am realizing is that had I not taken advantage of the
opportunities, taken a few risks in the past ten years, I would not have been able to be in the position I am today, I would not have had the knowledge to give it a fighting chance.
Now, that is not to say, I have all of the knowledge
now. Far from it. I am realizing every day that I have much to learn, but I am open to receiving that wisdom, and that makes a significant difference in being able to recognize the opportunities that present themselves. To never stop learning has always been a life goal of mine as in learning something new, we renew our lives, we renew ourselves in a way, no?
So I encourage you, I implore you, to not be complacent in your 20s, 30s especially, but perhaps ever in your lifetime, because when life offers to teach you something, choose to take the lesson. We may not know why we are learning it at that moment, but eventually life has a way of rewarding us for having attained such
knowledge.
In this week's newsletter, the Thoughts from the Editor post elicited much response from readers. I want to thank each and every reader who shared
their experience with uprooting themselves and moving to someplace else. Your courage is a powerful example of how we truly do have more control over our happiness and contentment and should always have the courage to change and refresh our lives.
And speaking of refreshing our lives, September truly offers this opportunity. So many people view the beginning of the fall season as their new year, and for good reason. Our travels have often changed us, enlightened us and the summer months have given us a respite to consider and reevaluate how we have lived up until now. I encourage you to make one change, no matter how small, that will improve the quality of your everyday life. Perhaps merely, adding a meditation practice or being
mindful of how you walk (as I am learning in my Pilates class) as I seek out ways to prevent injury in the future, or maybe something more challenging such as the words that come out of your mouth. Perhaps eliminate the sarcasm and choose to be more vulnerable with optimism and support. You might be amazed at the response and improvement of quality relationships in your life.
But now I will let you peruse the newsletter. Wishing you a lovely weekend, and thank you for choosing to subscribe to TSLL weekly newsletter. Until
next week, I'll see you on the blog.
