,
This past week has been Back-to-School for teachers as our students in Bend arrive next week, and at one of the meetings I attended, a quote was shared that I immediately scribbled down, "Live by design, not by default." Such a quote could spur
many long and thoughtful conversations, which perhaps you will have after reading this week's newsletter, but to simplify it here, the best lives truly are those lived consciously, not simply doing what has been done in the past.
Stepping outside of our comfort zone and doing something that is new can be daunting. Often we can be
met with many nay-sayers who are comfortable with the status quo or tradition, but we should never be held back by these contrarians. However, if we discover after an extended period of time that the change we desire cannot be accomplished where we exist, whether it be within a relationship, at a particular job or in the town we reside, we must find the courage to redesign our lives.
From my own experience, often when we make this decision to change, there isn't a roadmap of certainty. We may be able to do homework ahead of time to help yield the best results, but we cannot know for sure what those results will be. We must welcome such an unknown as a gift, because it is amazing how the universe provides what we need and often exceeds our expectations if we are willing to let go and show we truly
desire what we seek. We cannot go half-heartedly, we must have faith in ourselves, in our intuition and in the world, that something better can exist that will sit better with our yearnings. Because it does . . .
Many of you have been wondering where the weekly Thoughts from the Editor post has gone,
and while I will always leave that door open, it may be a more spontaneous post when I have extra time. Lately, I have been investing my extra computer time to creating a new blog/website for my classroom and getting a foot-hold in my new routine. Thank you in advance for understanding, but if you're curious to see what my other career is like (at least a glimpse). You're
welcome to have a look. I have a feeling you will recognize a few things, as I couldn't help but bring them along.
I do hope September is off to a wonderful start for you. In this week's newsletter,
much is about fashion, style and sharing so many of the fall items I have discovered and am loving for my fall capsule wardrobe (check out the navy pants from Theory in this week's Outfit of the Week). And even if you're not interested or able to shop at this moment, be sure to stop by TSLL Online Shop throughout the fall/winter season as it is refreshed and stocked with a multitude of fall capsule wardrobe essentials.
Wishing you a lovely weekend. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
