"There is no remedy for love but to love more." Henry David Thoreau has uttered many of my favorite quotes about how to proceed through life. Paired with Ralph Waldo Emerson, his mentor in many ways, these two men capture the beauty of life and remind readers of how simple it really
is to be full of joy and find our way.
In the above quote, many people may instantly jump to the idea of romantic love, but if we could all step back from that notion for a while and look at the idea of love in general, I think we'd be
amazing by how rich our everyday lives could become if we just loved more in every interaction and moment we find ourselves.
Love toward our neighbors, love toward strangers, love toward our community, to nature and to ourselves. There may be moments in
our lives or durations in our lives when we feel that love is not present, that we are lacking, and while we cannot control others' reactions or behavior, we can control our own. We may have to let go of certain people, places or ideas in order to discover a life full of more love, but we will never reap more love by holding it back. Never.
The idea of being vulnerable might spring to mind, and that is precisely what we must do. We must do so wisely and confidently knowing what we are capable of sharing and why we are sharing it. But if we share in an honest manner with our roots firmly planted, yet being flexible where we know we can be, we open the door for more love to enter our
lives.
Whether it is taking a risk and stepping out on our own at an event, or getting to know new friends and colleagues, when we extend kindness and thoughtfulness gradually and without expectation, we each become filled with more joy. And if
something more, a friendship, a sense of trust as a loyal customer or perhaps even the hope of romance happens to occur, well that's wonderful too. But even if it doesn't, our lives abound with joy because we are behaving joyfully in each moment. So yes, we are responsible for the amount of love we have in our lives.
In this week's newsletter, I am tickled to introduce you to a style blogger that I just discovered, although many of you may follow her already, and in this week's episode of the podcast, as one reader commented, it really is blog post about being kind to our bodies. And I think she has a point. Also, with fall soon to be at our front steps, this week's Outfit of the Week is full of fall ideas and new
collections.
I hope your week went well, and now that the weekend has arrived I hope you can put down the to-do list and just enjoy. I know we've all worked hard so we can do this, so whether it's enjoying lunch with a friend, taking a hike in the
hills or hopping on a plane to enjoy a getaway, have an amazing time.
Until next week, I'll see you on the
blog.
