,
A few life truths I have been reminded of lately is that the strength and talent of those around you will either help you soar or sink, and cynicism will never be a component to a fulfilling and amazing life.
To begin on that last point, while it can be risky to have high hopes as they can be dashed, eventually what we look for, we find, and personally, I'd rather find what I am hoping for rather than what I am fearful of. As I go forward into the weekend, I am hopeful, and if this certain something doesn't work out, I know I will be all right, but I sure hope it does.
And to address the former statement, surrounding yourself, having the opportunity to work with those who are wiser and have more expertise in the fields that you are either interested in or need guidance in for your life path is worth investing in. Why? First of all, time is money, and
if they can save you a headache, an extra mortgage or lost fees, in the end you're in a neutral state or better state than you would be with the alternative.
With each of these truths, it ultimately rests on where do you want your life to eventually
go and how do you want the journey to materialize. Disregard the short term, yes, you may have your heartbroken because you had your hopes up or you may have to pay a bit more up front, but in the long run, you will be far better off.
Too often it seems
in a culture that is impatient, we make decisions with limited foresight, choosing the cheap or safe decision that protects our heart. Having learned from experience, hearts mend and investments pay off, but each take time to yield their results.
Have patience with your life, choose wisely and move forward with confidence. It is my hope that you won't have to learn every life lesson from experience.
And
speaking of experience, Monday's episode of The Simple Sophisticate was overwhelmingly received with a positive reception. For all of the readers who commented and shared their aha or experience of realizing they were an HSP, thank you very much for your honesty and strength. You will probably never know how much you have helped others who are only now just realizing they are not alone and being an HSP truly
rocks.
Addressing the gifts of being a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), I spoke from my experience and recently gained knowledge from Dr. Elaine Aron's book to ease unnecessary frustrations when it comes to living a life that is in tune with each of
our personalities, strengths and vulnerabilities. I do think you'll enjoy, even if you don't identify with being HSP, you may have someone in your life that is, and what a world of a difference you will make in the growth of your relationship if you can understand how they approach the world.
Changes are coming to my life as I discussed in this week's Thoughts from the Editor regarding my move to Bend, and while such a shift can be daunting, it can also be full of amazing possibility and growth. Speaking of growth, The Simple Sophisticate podcast is adding a second weekly episode beginning Saturday July 25th, so do be sure to tune in bright and early as the details are coming together nicely and I
cannot wait for its debut. Look for a post just days before to give you an idea of what this weekly episode will entail.
Before I wrap up this week, I would like to give a heart-felt shout-out to Marie of The Stylish Grace blog. In a post this past week, she included The Simple Sophisticate podcast in her favorite Top 10 Podcasts for the Modern Woman. Truly humbled, be sure to take a look as I feel fortunate to be included with such talented company (and be sure to listen to this week's Petit Plaisir in this week's episode of the podcast as I share one of my favorite podcasts to listen to as well - hint, it has to do with
food!).
Well, I do believe the weekend is here, and a quick reminder to anyone who lives in my area, I am having my last Fashion Lover's Yard Sale. Although this time, it is a moving sale. With oodles of clothing (many designer brands), piles of books, furniture and home decor, feel free stop by as I am purging beyond
purging. This Saturday only (July 11th) from 7:30am to 2pm (check the local paper for the address).
May you have a wonderful weekend, and until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
