The idea of extending kindness.  Not because someone deserves it, but rather because we wish to extend it, requires of the individual to be self-actualized, self-aware, to be cognizant of more than just that one moment.

Often when we experience rude behavior, those around us and even ourselves excuse a cutting remark thrown back in return or an equally rude response. After all, it was warranted, no?

In actuality, when it comes to sincere kindness, it is to understand that the reason the other person chose the path of hostility rather than kindness is because of something that has nothing to do with you, and simply you have given them an outlet and they, as a way of release, chose to take it.

To choose kindness is easy when the people we are engaging with are equally kind or more so, but is in those moments when kindness is not expected that it is most needed.

It is in such moments of needed kindness that have the most power. Maybe not in the moment for the person on the receiving end, but perhaps to those in observance. Perhaps, being present to watch someone extend kindness when it wasn't expected is a very profound and life-shifting experience. Or maybe not.

Either way, kindness is powerful. And whether you believe in karma or anything else that dictates your moral code, you can never choose wrong when you choose the path of genuine humanity - thoughtful compassion. Whether it be a smile extended to a stranger instead of ignoring their presence or perhaps refraining from a chuckle of teasing and rather a pat on the back and reassurance that their efforts were appreciated, kindness is priceless.

Depending upon your sensitivities, you will pick up immediately or eventually on sincere kindness extended your way. Repay the favor. But that doesn't mean it has to be extended to precisely to the giver. Pay it forward. Move it along and spread the kindness. Because kindness really does beget more kindness, in one way or another.

And speaking of a priceless part of life that will help enrich our daily lives, in this week's newsletter, a reminder that true wealth while involving money, also involves many other life choices that will bring you a priceless peace of mind. Also, in this week's This & That, a feel-good movie to enjoy, a Francophile book to add to your resources and two spring coats I think you will love. That is just a taste. I do hope you enjoy and have a lovely weekend.

While my weekend will be simple, it will certainly be savored. Putzing around the house and yard, indulging in a yoga class, coffee and chatting with a friend and reading, reading, reading and more reading. In other words, pure bliss. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
