The ability to know which way to go as we navigate through life can often be daunting, frustrating and feel at times futile as we think, analyze and speculate upon what we should do. I don't know about you, but I can feel this way, and lately have been. However, even when I find myself in this state, I am reminded of previous
similar moments and am encouraged that somehow I found my way out and was able to get on the right path because I feel fortunate to be where I am.
So what's the lesson? How do we steer ourselves out of those moments of frustration? How
do we ignore or bypass those early mornings in bed when the sun has yet to come up and our mind is racing with worry and doubt?
What I have found to be worthwhile elixirs are merely getting up and getting busy doing something I love or working
toward something I am passionate about. But along with these two approaches, I am stimulated and enlivened when I intertwine time doing activities or spending time with people that always leave me inspired and feeling loved. Interacting with people and spending time at events in which awe-inspired moments can occur boosts my positivity and serves to remind me that I am capable, I will figure it out and life can be trusted.
Recently in the Wall Street Journal, an article titled "Researchers Study Awe and Find It Is Good for Relationships" revealed that experiencing the feeling of awe has a profoundly positive effect on our way of viewing the world. What does an moment that may provoke the feeling of awe look like? Well, the good news is that it will be different for
everyone. Perhaps you witness a beautiful scene in nature, or maybe an impressive athletic feat, or a euphoric moment at a concert listening to your favorite artist or maybe something as simple as a moment with someone that was completely profound and unexpected.
The options really are endless, but I think the takeaway is to live a life, create a life, that allows you regular opportunities to feel awe inspired.
So this weekend, while you will most likely have regular routines you enjoy
doing as I share in this week's Thoughts from the Editor, why not allow yourself to also be in situations where such moments of positivity can transpire. In other words, be optimistic, be curious and know that it could happen at anytime if you open up yourself to life. Be brave. Be full of gratitude because it could occur in the most simple of things. Because when you open yourself up to experiencing life, often those big life questions answer
themselves.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone, and until next
week, I'll see you on the blog.
