As our modern world invites
us to design our best lives, the idea that perfect is attainable can understandably feel as though it is possible. Yes, we have access to more information than ever. Yes, we have more options when it comes to clothing, food, relationships and travel destinations. And yes, we have more awareness to the myriad of ways life can be lived, but as Barry Schwartz points out in his best-selling book "Paradox of Choice" that may be precisely what's abetting our lack of satisfaction and contentment.
By no means
should we choose to remain ignorant and shut ourselves off from the world. After all, part of why I share each week is to inform, teach and assist readers in discovering and successfully traveling their unique path to cultivate their simply luxurious life. However, when we do finally make a decision and encounter our first bump of discomfort or frustration, rather than looking to other options, it would behoove each of us to examine the hiccup, learn, navigate through or around and then
continue striving forward. So long as we've done our investigating, research and homework beforehand, we must trust that we are on the right path.
Could that path end when we aren't ready? Sure. But any
decision whether it involves a relationship, a skill or finishing a project, more often than not can be strengthened upon addressing what the temporary faults are and moving past them. After all, deeper connections can be cultivated, greater confidence can be found, and if we instead leave or give up when things become difficult, we will never see the beauty that could have blossomed.
So why not . . . let your life blossom? Cheesy? Okay, but you know what I mean. :)
As the release of the book is now only three months away, the reality is beginning to set in, and it is you, the readers, whose support I continue to be humbled by. In an effort to offer more ways to share information about any new announcements regarding the release, readings and news about the book and the blog, in the next few weeks, an author website will be launched and the app that I mentioned in September will finally
be ready to be unveiled (with the new iOS8 from Apple, a few tweaks had to be made). So do stay tuned.
As the weekend arrives, a quiet few days are on my horizon. How about you? I'm finding my slower paced schedule, while initially
confounding after many years of 6-7 day work weeks, to be quite the lovely change. It's amazing what the mind will discover when it has time to roam and where conversations can go and hours can disappear when we allow ourselves to sink into moments we too often may have rushed in the past.
Wishing you a lovely weekend wherever your plans take you. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
