Patience in life is most certainly a necessity. Whether it is needed while we put in the necessary effort to achieve our goals or bide our time for life's events to unfold even though we would prefer they pick up their pace, having patience will eventually reveal itself to be a valuable investment of our time. It could be life is giving us time to learn the necessary lessons, or perhaps it is allowing us time to
realize we are on the wrong path. Either way, patience, more often than not, is a gift we can only appreciate in hindsight.
And so while I practice patience, and gradually become more apt at allowing for spontaneous moments of not
acting rashly, I am also reminded that part of feeling more content is accepting that 'not knowing' is a part of life.
So as we are practicing patience, we are also most likely accepting that life will unfold in its own time, so long as we
have put forth the necessary ingredients to help produce the product or occurrence we desire. However, even when we have patience, even when we put forth the required components, sometimes the outcomes we seek are fulfilled in a way that we hadn't expected. But that is the beauty of life, no?
What I have discovered to be one of the best ways to be at peace with this uncertainty is to stop editing my life. To stop living in a way that I feel I "should" act or behave. In other words, if an event or moment moves me to act, and the action is respectful and in alignment with my path and priorities, why not? So what if it doesn't behave congruently to what I had previously planned or what others expect?
In such moments, I think our lives speak to us. I really do. And I know that may sound absurd at first, but think about it. If we can only understand who we are when we silence our busy lives and spend time with our own company from time to time, the only way we can know which way
our lives should go is to listen to the moments that bring us to life. Now of course, if we are moved to do something to fulfill a lower pleasure (as discussed in this week's podcast), we might want to reconsider, but so long as it will not be detrimental, but in fact will add value and accessorize our journey, why not?
In this week's podcast, the topic was living an examined life - what does that look like and how do we do it? It is actually something quite simple at the core, and while I break it down in more detail, so long as we are participating and engaged with life, the life we live will be fruitful, it will be
dynamic and I have no doubt it will be oh, so very poetic.
As November begins tomorrow, I hope October treated you well. I have no doubt that the penultimate month of the year will be magical and full of beautiful
memories. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
