Change. Self-provoked change, that is, is a very real option we can bring into our lives to cultivate a more rich and fulfilling everyday experience. Whether we want to elevate our lives, improve our health or simply know more than we did yesterday about any endless topics, change is possible.

The good news is we don't have to drown ourselves, or exhaust ourselves in order for the change we seek to occur, but we do however have to be consistent and purposeful in our efforts. In other words, we must push past the limits we thought existed: hold that downward dog in yoga class just a little bit longer, pause or bite our tongue before we say something without thinking it through or even eliminate one simple favorite food from our diet.

And one additional elements enables the change we desire to occur with more ease and that is having someone by our side or cheerleading from the sidelines that is encouraging and as confident in our change as we are.

A recent study revealed that in order for people to change, to do something they don't feel comfortable doing or aren't sure they can do, they must feel safe. In other words, when we have someone who will not laugh at our attempts, will disregard our awkward first go-rounds and will offer encouraging support, we are more likely to continue to move toward the change we seek. It may be gradual, but with consistent effort and someone to hold our coat of courage when we can't seem to find it, we are bound to be successful.

So whether you are someone who wishes to change in some way or another, or you are involved with or love someone who would like to change, keep in mind the power of an encouraging partner, and never underestimate its strength.

In this week's newsletter, I am excited to share two big announcements as the simply luxurious life experience is growing! Over the past weekend, TSLL app was launched on iTunes. Free to download, readers can now enjoy each new blog post and Instagram pic on their smart phone or tablet.  Also, as the nearing of the book launch approaches, a new website was launched focused on all things simply luxurious - shannonables.com. Stop by to stay abreast of everything associated with the simply luxurious brand.

And speaking of the book, I am currently planning a few book reading dates, and am looking for readers' recommendations. Any independent bookstore that you love and frequent, please do share with me the details, and I will be sure to look them up as I consider my travel plans for this upcoming spring and summer.

I don't know about you, but this week zipped by before I knew which day I was ever enjoying. How that happened, I'm not sure; however, I sure am glad the weekend has arrived. With a few magazines to flip through and a book I am throughly enjoying (read this week's This & That to find out the title), the two days may be leisurely, but I'm certainly going to enjoy them. I hope you do as well.

Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.

One of my fantasy items when it comes to shoes is a pair of Stuart Weitzman’s over-the-knee classic 5050 boots. Perhaps it is because Kate Moss expertly reminds us how chic they can look if only we had her physique and taste, or maybe it’s because the boots really do all of the talking.

Either way, I wanted to pull together an outfit revolving around this uniquely classic style. While available in an array of colors and finishes, a matte black is what would be the most subtle and versatile, so I paired it with a slim skinny leg, a statement top, and topped them with a faux fur coat. Ideal for a winter weekend evening out perhaps? After all, the boots are flat, so maybe a day look is possible for a casual outing as well. Who knows, but what I do know for sure is that I’m saving up.
