The gift of life is that we have the opportunity to enjoy it, and even more celebratory is the many surprises that we can never predict no matter how hard we try. While there is security in knowing what lies ahead as we strive toward our goals, so much can't be foretold. Yes, we can be certain that if we make bad, unwise decisions, life will lead us down an unpleasant path, but the good news is when we do our best, when we take
calculated risks here and there, amazingly wonderful things can happen as well.
They may not always be the things we expected or thought we wanted, but upon closer
examination, they may be exactly what we need.
If you told me five years ago I would be hosting a podcast, I would have said you were crazy. After all, as a young girl and
even a young woman, I wasn't comfortable with the sound of my own voice. Come to find out, I have an absolute blast behind the microphone, and my voice - well, it's the only one I will ever have. I may not be at my best yet, far from it in fact, but in creating The Simple Sophisticate podcast, I have come to find a niche where I feel perfectly at home. But perhaps the reason I feel so at home is the warm reception, you the readers, have given the new venture.
I want to share with you some exciting news regarding Monday's premiere of The Simple Sophisticate. In 48 short hours, the podcast soared up iTunes New &
Noteworthy charts in the "Self-Help" section to #14. I honestly was completely flabbergasted, but it was the listeners tuning in and sharing their positive reviews that made it possible. Thank you so very much for your interest, time and enthusiasm. I am eager to share with you the third episode on Monday (this week a double release occurred to honor the premiere).
In other news to alert you to - if you are an eBook reader, Choosing The Simply Luxurious Life: A Modern Woman's Guide is now available for Pre-Order from Smashwords. All tablet preferences are available for $9.99, and you can view a free sample of the
book! Whether Kindle, Apple, Sony or other eBook formats are your choice, the option to pre-order is finally here (the book will be released on January 20, 2015). Click here.
Already the middle of September is just days away, and the gifts of fall seem to be right at our doors. All the more reason to enjoy each moment to step outside without your coat, take that early morning walk in the sunshine or simply sit outside and soak up the fleeting warm rays. I do hope you have a wonderful weekend, and until next
week, I'll see you on the blog.

P.S. - As you will see in
one of this week's Instagram pics below, a reader captured a moment of leisure while waiting for her plane in Toronto. Guess what was on her iPad? The Simply Luxurious Life! Well, you can imagine how excited I was, so I shared it with my Instagram readers. If you too want to share how and where you enjoy reading the blog, listening to the podcast, (or in the future, reading the book), include the following in your message - @thesimplyluxuriouslife #mysimplyluxuriouslife - and I'll gladly
regram on my feed. Who knows, perhaps you will be spotlighted next week! |

As I mentioned this past summer, ankle jeans are a wonderful option for pant length, and are quite en vogue this fall season. And since fall is just about upon us, black is never a bad option to have at-the-ready when pulling together an outfit. Keep it simple, include mainly neutrals that you can mix and match with many other outfits, and then add a beautiful silk blouse full of color that complements your skin tone. I was recently watching an old film
with Uma Thurman - a unique beauty in her own right - and what I noticed is that the stylist, as it is their job to do, chose colors (bright colors from time to time) that made her look even more radiant. Many people wouldn't want to choose the same colors, but on her, they looked perfect. That is
the key. Even if an item looks stunning on the model in online, ask yourself, is this in line with my coloring? (here is a quick guide to determine which "season" your skin tone aligns with). Above you will find the outfit pulled together, but below you will find other price point options for each of the items. Happy shopping! |
