Friday July 11, 2014                                                                                                  Issue #206

You know that feeling when you look up at the clock because either your stomach has begun growling or the sun has begun to descend, and you realize more than a few hours have passed as you've been immersed in a project or any type of work that you thoroughly love.

Isn't that the most amazing feeling? I don't know about you, but when such moments happen, I try to catch myself and place a bookmark in my mind - note to self - "do more of this". After all, when we've discovered the activities, interests and pastimes that seem to make time disappear, we're given an aha moment, not something to be tossed aside lightly.

If you haven't discovered these activities, or perhaps you have in the past, but have lost track of them, try to find time to sit down with yourself and reflect on any moments that left you in a sort of an "Alice in Wonderland" moment, where time made no sense and you were utterly enamored with what you were doing. Once you recognize what it is, get back to doing it as quickly and as often as you can.

I bring such a scenario to your attention because this past week I've found myself in such a state, and while my dogs probably don't think I'm the most exciting human being they've been around, I've been engrossed in projects and learning new tricks of technology (new to me, probably not new to most techies - :)) to continue to enhance the blog. With that said, I wanted to share with you two of the projects I've been working on.

First, this past spring I mentioned that TSLL would be starting a podcast in the fall. Well, now you can learn all about it, when it will begin and what it will be about here on its very own page on the blog.

And secondly, while I love writing and reading, I am also a very visual person, as I have a feeling many of you are too. So to offer a visual explanation of what living the simply luxurious life looks like, I've created a short video that I think you might enjoy (see below, and click on the image to be taken to the video). The video is now permanently located on TSLL "About" page.

Next week I'll be packing my bags and traveling to New York City, so if you want to see what I'm up to in the Big Apple, be sure to follow me on Instagram (@thesimplyluxuriouslife). But before that takes place, the weekend is here, and it's time to enjoy it. I do hope you have a wonderful few days off, and if you too are traveling, bon voyage!

Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.

Shannon

PS - Just a reminder - This & That now appears on Fridays, and this week is its inaugural debut. Be sure to stop by as it is fuller than usual of books, exhibits, links and articles I think you might enjoy.

I have to admit, this was one of my favorite outfits to shop. The nautical theme, the chic simplicity and the touches of femininity. While I did find Marc Jacob's white and indigo dress (far left), I fell in love with Jean Paul Gaultier's caped back dress for work and more formal occasions. It is on drastic reduction, and I know it won't last long - a wonderful investment piece reduced to a fantastic bargain. And the tote - don't you just love this all-purpose tote? Well-crafted from Mark & Graham, and it could be the perfect summer carry-all. Don't forget the white denim jacket which is always great to have on hand in the summer months for layering, and the Fossil watch - a brand I am loving for the quality and the price.
