As today is the Fourth of July, my history curiosity has been piqued. Did you know Americans may actually be two days late in
celebrating the formal day of declaration of independence? If John Adams had his way, Americans would celebrate on the 2nd rather than the 4th as it was on the second day of July that all thirteen delegates voted for their sovereignty; however, it was on the 4th that the formal document's edits were approved. And interestingly enough, both Thomas Jefferson and John Adams died on the Fourth of July in 1826. Coincidence? Perhaps. Either way, intriguing.
If nothing else, this brief history offers its own life lesson, in that, much of what we celebrate, how we celebrate and when we celebrate is up to interpretation, but what remains constant, is that there is a need to celebrate, to remember and to appreciate the efforts and events that came before.
Nothing worth having ever arrived without hard work, and anything worth having takes time to blossom. So long as we appreciate the effort that preceded the patiently awaited arrival, how we celebrate and even when we celebrate is for the most part irrelevant. Most importantly, it is that we appreciate how we've arrived at where we
are.
So whether it be in regards to independence or simply our lot in life that is full of blessings, comforts and love, be sure to celebrate from time to time, and take into account all that is going well.

Also, I want to thank everyone who wished me well these past few weeks. After 10 days, I am back on my feet and typing my little fingers off. And as a result, I had a lot of time to think and fine tune the blog schedule. A few changes have been made starting next week. This & That will move to Fridays, and Petit Plaisirs is on a summer hiatus and will return periodically when a book, recipe or any simple pleasure grabs my
attention.
Other than that, you will find all of your regularly weekly posts below. Enjoy perusing, and thank you for choosing to subscribe to TSLL weekly newsletter. Wishing my state side readers a celebratory Fourth of July (or a belated Second of July), and to all of my readers no matter what country
you call home, may you enjoy a weekend to be free, to relax and to enjoy yourself as you please. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
