One of my favorite books is The Alchemist. Given to me as a gift from a reader, it is now a book I pass along to high school graduates. And just yesterday, I was reminded of one of the beautiful lessons the book provides. "Before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this, not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing
our dreams, master the lessons we've learned as we've moved forward toward that dream."
Often it seems that we find the words of aha when we need them. Perhaps it is simply because we are looking and the words of revelation have been there all along. But either way, upon seeing these words again, I was reassured about a recent decision I made that after much
contemplation, upon making I realized instantly was the gateway to so much I had worked for.
You see, after having endured all of the lessons, when we are presented with the final lesson that is mentioned above - the lesson that is the final key to reaching the finish line - we are exhausted, we are dubious as to whether or not to trust our instincts because of the
pain that was endured along the way. However, what I have discovered is that the difference between knocking at success's door and making the wrong decision is that choosing to take on the last challenge will instinctively be the proper decision to make. The catch, your instincts won't be confirmed until you act. But almost immediately, when you do choose to act, when you do choose to tackle that final challenge, you will see the door open and confirmation that you did indeed learn the
many lessons that were thrust upon you will be bring a huge sigh of relief and exhilaration.
Trust yourself. Apply the lessons. Life is trying to show you what and where you should go, but you must pay attention and not be afraid to act.
In this week's newsletter, Monday's post focuses on the power a shift in perspective can bring as we try to understand the next step we must take in life. Do be sure to have a look if you find yourself in a quandary as the reader who inspired the post shared with me in an email.
Also, if you are a fan of fashion appreciation, you
won't want to miss my list of favorites from this week's Met Gala Red Carpet. Full ball gowns, long satin gloves and dapper gentleman. So much glamour was to be enjoyed on this Oscars of the Fashion World.
And if you have been trying to come to terms with the power of your wardrobe, struggling to make it work for you and your lifestyle, be sure to take a look
at this week's most popular post - Why Not . . . Master the Art of Dressing?. After all, just as we should be the master of our finances, we should also be the master of our closets as well.
In closing, this Sunday is Mother's Day in the states, so for all of my readers who are mothers, I want to wish you wonderful weekend of appreciation and simple
pleasures. As most Mother's Days find me spending the weekend with my mom, this year is no different, and I look forward to our time together. However, whether or not you are sharing this weekend with your mother, may you take a moment to nurture and care for yourself. After all, it is only after we tend to our own needs that we can then be fully available for those we love most.
Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
