I always find it reaffirming that when we push through difficult situations, we are rewarded in such a way that confirms our efforts were worth the momentary stress and often times, headache. Just as the pressure mounts for the base runner as they round third heading for home or the basketball player who is given the ball to make the game winning shot with seconds remaining, if either athlete lets up and becomes hesitant or stops, success hasn't an opportunity to materialize.

Even if the shot is missed or the player is tagged out at home plate, valuable experience is gained that will be applied to a more promising pursuit the next go-round. Why would there be a next go-round, you may ask? Why would someone go through the angst and agony for something that may not work out? Quite simply, because if you truly want what you've set out after, you won't give up, and you will discover that that hard earned wisdom will demonstrate itself a powerful asset.

While there is no guarantee of what we will find when we invest in our dreams, what we are guaranteed is an opportunity to evolve into a person who is ever closer to their fullest potential. A potential that if we don't choose to stretch, we can never acquire.

And so it happened this week that as I move through the process of publishing my first book (of which I am eager to share with you, as soon as I have more concrete details, I'll share first to my newsletter subscribers), after taking time to thoroughly investigate cost and benefits, I made a decision to bet on myself. While the process is new to me,  no matter what happens I am reassured knowing that valuable knowledge will be gained. But it is in having a clear focus on the final product that helped to make the decision without reservation.

While I am not clairvoyant, I do know that past experience has shown that when we make educated risks, when we choose to garner up the courage to believe in ourselves and when we pair it with tireless work, life has a way of rewarding the risk-taker. So what are you contemplating?

In this week's newsletter ECCO shoes and accessories are showcased as I had the opportunity to experience first-hand their quality products for everyday living. And if you tend to gravitate toward stylish, yet comfortable footwear, you will want to take a look at the post. Also, money mastery is discussed, as well as one of the most powerful gifts we can give ourselves - knowledge. Lastly, if you're looking for a pleasurable weekend read, do be sure to take a look at last weekend's Petit Plaisir.

With the weekend's arrival, the yard is calling, as well as stopping by the first day of local farmer's markets. I hope you too have a weekend that is full of sunny moments and time to enjoy a few simple luxuries. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.

Outfit of the Week:No. 18

The white shift dress was the overwhelming choice of readers last week, and while the dress in the image is from Selfridge's (sold-out), there are a handful of wonderful options that range in price (I've included two below). With a straw fedora to block the sun, a large leather tote to carry all the necessities for any occasion, the sandals add a touch of color and your summer glow will complete the look.
