Earlier this week, I woke up around 5 o'clock in the morning as I usually do on a work day and discovered that our school
district was running on a two-hour delayed schedule. I evidently hadn't looked at the weather forecast before going to bed because I was shocked by the freezing rain that was wrecking havoc on the surrounding roadways, yet giddy at the opportunity that had just presented itself.
The reason for sharing
this is that in that moment I could have gone back to bed, but instead I was eager to take advantage of the two extra hours. Choosing to gobble up information about a project I was working on, I tuned into a couple of podcasts I had saved on my phone. With pen in hand, I was wide awake, not yet exhausted by a full day's work, and ready to learn.
The gift of each of our lives is that we all have opportunities that we either make or are thrust upon us. Some are small such as the one I described above, but others are large. However, regardless of the size of the opportunity that briefly presents itself, if we continue to take these moments and apply them to the life we wish to live or enhance the life we already are living, eventually the dream will become a
reality.
As youth, opportunity can often be missed due to the fact that is looks to be exhaustive work, unnecessary labor or a wasted chance when sleep is beckoning, but as we learn as we grow up, if we're willing to step into these opportunities, amazing gifts can be revealed. Before long, we have made gains
without even realizing it, and in time, magic begins to occur.
No matter where you live, no matter how you live, knowledge, information, and opportunities for growth are dwelling around you. Grab them, seek them out and absorb these fleeting moments because who knows when they will come
again.
In this week's newsletter, one of the most popular posts TSLL has seen since it was founded was posted on Monday. This week's inspirational post was inspired by my 35th birthday which happens to be today (Friday). And so I wanted to share 35 things I know to be true about being a stylish woman in her
30s. While many of the items on the list I have experienced, there are more than a few I am still working on. Most importantly, what you will find is a lovely conversation that was sparked in the comments. Be sure to peruse through other women's insights and experiences and please do share your own.
The Oscars are this weekend, and I must say, I'm excited to see the festivities. With a wealth of talent being nominated, a host that far is from confrontational and a pleasure to watch, and of course the red carpet, you can be sure Sunday evening will find me toasting to the Oscars following the four simple steps shared in this week's Why Not . . . ?.
Well, we did it. March will be upon us tomorrow and in that month, spring will arrive. Are you as excited as I am? Oh, my goodness. I am beyond giddy. My daffodils are about two to three inches out of the ground, and just knowing that spring is nearly here helps these long, gray days be all the more cozy and enjoyable as I know there won't be many more for awhile.
However you welcome in the month of March, I hope you have a wonderful time and find a moment or two to indulge in a simple luxury or two. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog
