,
Yesterday, as Thursday began, it seemed that Mother Nature had something up her sleeve - a reminder that winter isn't over
quite yet, and while it may be frigid, by George, she was going to make it beautiful . . . breath-taking, in fact. Starting at around 10 am, the snow began to flutter about to the ground, much like glitter or pixie dust, and within one hour, it was blanketing the sidewalks, streets, and eyelashes of anyone who stepped outside . . . and it didn't stop until . . . (well, as I write this, she's still doing her decorating).
I couldn't help but ponder the reminder what such a fierce winter storm quite late into the season could teach us. As much as we can plan, work tirelessly and predict based on past occurrences, often life doesn't unfold when we expect it to. But similar to the continuous snowfall that stubbornly demanded a snow day turning Friday into a long weekend,
with patience, what we've been working for will come and often be sweeter than our expectations.
Life doesn't ask us if we approve of its schedule, but it does demand we put forth the necessary effort in order to acquire what we desire. After all, we can't run a marathon successfully without doing
the training, we can't publish a book without spending hours and often years of writing and we can't find a promising relationship without investing in becoming the best person we can potentially be.
So while our plans may seem to be thwarted, refuse to throw in the towel. More often than not, you're
being tested as to determine your true desire to acquire what it is you said you wished to achieve.
On that note, I'm going to take advantage of my extra day off to finish some projects without feeling rushed, take in a matinee of a film I've been eager to see (as mentioned in this week's This &
That) and find an entire morning (or two) to simply just be. I couldn't imagine a sweeter winter's weekend.
Now I don't know about you, but waiting this long into the season for a snow day was well worth the wait as I most likely wouldn't have appreciated it nearly as
much.
In this weekend's newsletter, you'll find my latest favorite business to shop, a delicious morning pastry that is even easier to whip up and two simple rules to abide by to aid anyone as they travel on the road toward success.
Whether you are snowbound this weekend or basking in the sunshine, I hope you have a wonderful weekend and find a way to lose all track of time. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
