I believe we are almost to the most wonderful time of the year - the shortest day of the year is almost here and gone! Okay, okay, I'm not a grinch, believe me, but I crave more daylight. Don't you?

I'm also very much looking forward to Christmas and the New Year festivities, but I am ready for more light to begin waking me up in the morning and afternoon light to last past five o'clock for evening walks with the dogs. In the meantime, I am looking forward to days that are short on daylight as I have been looking forward to catching up on my reading, losing track of time during vacation and simply letting the days take me where they might.

Back to the holidays - this upcoming weekend is always full of excitement and energy, and regardless of your age, it is hard to not become full of cheer and smiles with all of the lights and festive music and especially all of the food that is waiting to be made and shared.

One outing I am especially looking forward to in the next few days is heading to main street and stepping into the many shops looking for the perfect stocking stuffers to finish my holiday shopping list. With nothing particular in mind and no constraints on my time, who knows what the journey will bring home.

And as the year winds down, I wanted to let you know that my annual week off from the blog will begin this upcoming Wednesday - December 25th and run through December 31st which means the newsletter will be taking a week off as well and resume on Friday January 3rd in the new year. But rest assured, the other annual tradition of the best posts of 2013 will go live each day that I am off. Stop by on Wednesday for the best Why Not . . . ? posts, on Thursday for the best Style posts, Monday for the best Motivational posts, Tuesday for the best books and much more.

In this week's newsletter, Monday's post offered ways to ensure that no matter what your new year's resolution may be, you can make them materialize. Wednesday stirred up some great conversation around the idea of shopping local and Thursday was full of Paris fashions and a simple chic, yet comfortable outfit for holiday gatherings.

As the fourth year of the blog wraps up, I want to wish you a wonderful holiday season. It is you, the readers, that continue to make the blog the success that it is, and I want you to know how thankful I am for all of your support. Thank you for choosing to visit The Simply Luxurious Life. I am excited for the new year to begin as I am I always looking for ways to bring you inspiration about how to create your own unique simply luxurious life. A life that taps into your talents and assists you in becoming your best self.  Be sure to stop by the blog on Monday and Tuesday of next week, as I will still be posting fresh new content. And as January 1st begins, the first new post of the year will be there to kick off the year. I'll see you in 2014! An exciting year awaits!

While all of the talk with New Year's Eve gatherings and holiday family dinners swirls around wearing dresses and gowns, you might be like me and wanting to mix it up from event to event, opting for more comfort and leisure on certain occasions.

Why not pair a fantastic pair of dark denim jeans with a beautiful statement camisole and winter white blazer, slip on a pair of gorgeous print pumps and complete the look with simple accessories and a go-to clutch? Comfortable, simple and suitable for a casual gathering of friends or family.
