And so it goes, summer is winding down, students are gearing up for school and families are squeezing one more vacation in before schedules become a bit more demanding.
While some may lament the end of this leisurely time of year, I will confess I eagerly wait for it to be upon us. The arrival of September is an opportunity to begin fresh, taking the lessons learned in the past school year, using the time of reflection summer has offered and move forward in an attempt to do it better in the months ahead.
Whether it's as simple as streamlining and fine tuning a wardrobe to love, or rearranging and editing responsibilities so the life we love can be more enjoyed and less exhaustive, these last few weeks of summer are a great time to get it right this time.
And it is in making the effort, that things do change. Perhaps so subtly we don't notice until we reflect after another twelve months have passed, but our determination will create the fact.
In Monday's inspirational post "A Thinking Life = A Happy Life", the core idea is that we must live mindfully, taking regular time to reflect, evaluate, assess, learn and apply as we move forward in our lives because the most powerful lesson we can learn is that we create the life we believe we deserve to live. I encourage you to read the post especially if you are wishing to making changes in your life or your attitude. The book that served as the inspiration is worth having as a resource and reminder of how we truly are the curators of our most unique and wonderful life.
And on a lighter note, but certainly one I can never get enough of - fashion and style. As I've been waiting patiently for my September issues to arrive, Wednesday's "Why Not . . . Organize Your Closet?" shared 13 simple steps to help ensure that the upcoming shopping season produces some wonderful purchases without any regret. After all, if we don't know what we have, how will we know what we need?
And last weekend, I mentioned I was prepping for an upcoming food and wine pairing event I was hosting last Friday, and I'm excited to share a few images captured as well as the Walla Walla wines and recipes that were paired. Some people have asked if I do this regularly or for hire, and while I have long been a lover of our local wines and trying to showcase them with foods that bring out their amazing flavor, I'm just beginning to dabble in the food and wine pairing catering business. It all depends on the size of the party, my schedule and location. However, I'm always open to exploring new adventures.
May the upcoming weekend treat you well, perhaps including some time for stepping away from the technology and diving into the present moment with those you love or indulging in some time alone. Whichever you choose, have a wonderful time. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
