As graduation ceremonies occur with regularity this time of year and caps are tossed, thanks are given and inspiring words are shared, I can't help but use the example of graduates as a reminder to us all that great challenges when conquered can provide an amazing boost in our belief in ourselves.
It is when we are faced with challenges or attempt to do something we've never done, but have always been curious about that we have the opportunity to take another step toward our full potential. While initially gathering up the courage to try a new venture can be unnerving, I was reminded just this week that when we choose to put forth our best efforts and complete the task, we often surprise ourselves and thus stir up a reminder that we are capable of so much more than we realize.
As June kicks off this weekend and perhaps your summer plans begin to reveal more free time, why not attempt something you've always wanted to do but were perhaps a bit intimidated? After all, I am confident you can do it, as it is simply the completion of the first attempt that fills us with more than enough confidence to attempt it again the next time and with even more success. Here is a post from the archives to help provide a bit of motivation . . .
In this week's newsletter you'll discover that I dabbled into the street style aspect of blogging. In doing so, I was reminded of how much I loved playing dress-up as a young girl. Perhaps you too enjoyed this childhood activity. With a box of old dresses made of satin, sequins, old hats and over-sized shoes assembled by my mother, some worn so often there were holes and dangling details, I regularly found myself wearing entire ensembles and dreaming of tea parties, balls and reveling in the beauty of it all. It's funny how aspects of your childhood can be telling signs of the direction you should navigate towards in your own unique way as an adult. Needless to say, fashion and clothes have always been something of a fantasy occupation, even if it's just organizing my closet.
As warmer months begin to emerge, this week's Style Inspiration focused on Summer Stripes and Wednesday's Why Not . . . ? shared ways that revealed that no matter where you live, you too can have your own mini garden producing healthy, delicious, budget saving herbs and vegetables. Just knowing that vacation trips are around the corner, longer days of daylight and moments to relax will be more abundant brings a welcomed sigh of comfort and thankfulness. There's just something intoxicating about the freedom summer brings.
I do hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead and are able to create simple moments of luxury to savor. Perhaps taking a warm bubble bath on a rainy afternoon or nibbling on your favorite pastry during a leisurely Sunday morning. Whatever you most enjoy, dive in and have a wonderful time. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
