,
The unofficial start to summer begins this weekend with Memorial Day's arrival. Perhaps you are getting out of town to go camping, swimming or wine tasting, but no matter how you choose to spend your holiday, it is a time to remember why we have this treasured break.
The memory of those who have fought and died while serving in the United States Armed Forces is not something to blithely forget. I think it is safe to assume that nobody desires war, but if we do treasure the freedoms and liberties we perhaps take for granted far too much each day, the least we can do is pay homage to those who were willing to put their lives on the line. Whether it is visiting a fallen soldier's grave, flying a flag outside of your home, saying thank you to a soldier in our community or simply being mindful of opportunities and protections granted and afforded you under the law, before raising your glass of wine to celebrate the weekend's arrival, tip your hat in appreciation.
In honor of the bravery we celebrate, a post from the archives to help prompt us all to be a bit braver in our everyday lives as we proceed toward our dreams . . .
In this week's newsletter, summer fashion is grabbing my attention as I organize my wardrobe and add any items that are missing or worn out. The good news is that significant sales have just begun in many of the top department stores (Nordstrom's Half-Yearly Sale) and designer shops (DVF - use promo code WKEND30, Tracy Reese - use promo code MEM25). One of my favorite summer outfits is the focus of this week's Splurge & Save Outfit with two items that I highly recommend.
On a simpler, far-less-straining-on-one's-wallet note, I wanted to share a glimpse into a typical stay-at-home weekend in this week's extra post - A Weekend of Work & Play. Involving food, Mother Nature and a few simple luxuries, I do hope you are inspired to seek out your own ideal weekend-at-home as well.
Whether you are on the road, putting your feet up or diving into a new book this weekend, do enjoy, and until next week, I will see you on the blog.
