One of the many lessons I have learned is that it is very rare for others to speak up for us and remind the world of our worth, our abilities and what we can bring to the table. Which means that it is all the more important that we speak up for ourselves and stake a claim in how we know we can move forward and what we have to offer. After all, if we don't have the courage to speak for what we know we can contribute, why would anyone else stand up for us?
Fortunately, we are the sole voice responsible for offering our gifts to the world. At times this can seem daunting. At times this can feel downright terrifying, but what I have discovered is that when we speak authentically - not in defense or cynically - we walk away with the ability to hold our heads high and know that our best was given. We cannot control how it will be received, but we can control how we deliver our gifts. But most importantly, we must not be too afraid to speak up for ourselves. For if we do not speak up, we only have ourselves to blame for not attaining what we long for.
Such a situation is just another example of how it takes courage to live a fulfilling and simply luxurious life. It takes courage to offer more than what is expected or think outside of the box, but as tech moguls demonstrated just this week, your ingenuity is to be applauded.
And even if the world doesn't recognize the gift your courage brings to your life, you will. Because when you are true to your authentic calling, gifts and talents, there is not a greater serenity to be found.
In this week's newsletter, Wednesday's Why Not . . . ? post instigated wonderful comments. So many readers from Europe and urban areas chimed in to share their experience with living in small homes, and I do want to thank you. It was incredibly insightful and served as inspiring reminders of the premise of Monday's post - How Refus
al Welcomes a Life of Riches.
Also, while Tuesday's This & That posts are one of my favorites to compile, this week's especially contains mention of a documentary I highly recommend you watch Tuesday night if you have PBS. Have a look here.
And the wait is nearly over. Next week, I will be posting the "before" and "after" images of my kitchen facelift. I've been needing to head to Portland, which I'm doing this weekend, to stop by two hardware/decor stores (here and here)
, and upon picking out the handles and cupboard accessories, I'll be snapping away. I can't wait to share!
Can you believe it's the last weekend of February already? With it being the shortest month of the year, it's only logical I suppose. However, so long as the days are getting ever so slightly longer and spring waits patiently to say hello, this pace is just fine by me.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Thank you so very much for subscribing to TSLL newsletter, and remember, next Friday you will also receive the bi-annual Spring newsletter full of fashion and trends to shop for as you spruce up your spring wardrobe. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
