"My philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you I the best place for the next moment."-Oprah WinfreyNo. 47 Friday, May 6, 2011 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
here are many suggestions on how to best live one's life. The lessons seem to be everywhere based on each person's experience, but one of the best lessons I believe for anyone, no matter what you believe, where you live or who you spend your time with, is this - to do your best and then let go.
So often the reason we are unable to be present in the moment is because we are digesting, rehashing and analyzing a past situation. By not being present, we are robbing ourselves of the beauty that is all around us.
This past week, a book I have been anxious to read arrived (Bonjour Happiness!) and one of the first lessons that is shared in it is the ability to get lost in moments, moments that will never occur exactly as they are again, that provide us with true wealth and rich lives. Such a simplistic way to live, but unfortunately, many of us are sending our attention elsewhere while we are present with someone, walking down a street where fresh spring flowers have just bloomed, yet never realizing what is there to enjoy.
In order to follow this mantra of doing our best in the moment and then letting go, we must focus on quality and less multi-tasking which will enable us to focus all of our attention, and thus our best efforts, to the task at hand. Once we know that we did our best in that moment, we can let it go without regrets. And that is what will help us all live more fully, feel more contented and appreciate the rich life that we have created for ourselves.
In this week's newsletter, you will find the continuation of the Why Not . . . Be A Successful Woman? series where so many of you commented on the importance of setting boundaries which is so refreshing to hear, as the setting of such boundaries is the first step in showing respect towards ourselves. Also, all of the Royal Wedding's photos that were shared last weekend are included which was one of the most popular posts of all time on The Simply Luxurious Life
, as well as the amazingly gorgeous fashions seen on the red carpet at The Costume Institute Gala at the Met this past Monday evening.
, I want to thank you again for subscribing to The Simply Luxurious Life newsletter. It is my genuine hope that you find something worthwhile each week that you can add to your life to bring even more fulfillment and joy. If ever you have comments, suggestions or questions, I love to hear from my readers, so do not hesitate to email me. Have a lovely weekend and until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
