I

t's a funny thing about dreams. Henry David Thoreau new exactly what he was talking about when he stated the quote that is framed above my desk, "If one advances confidently in the direction of [her] dreams, and endeavors to live the life [she] has imagined, [she] will meet with success unexpected in common hours."

Dreams aren't realized in a make believe world, but in the here and now. Dreams become realities when we put forth the effort day after day, even when we aren't given a reason to believe. Sometimes dreams are realized, and it is only the dreamer who knows that they have occurred. Recently this happened in a few small ways for me, and I must say it is exhilarating to know I have somewhat of a secret. To others this dream realized may be not a big deal, but to me it was an untapped source of energy.  The beauty of celebrating dreams coming to life within yourself is that you almost feel as though you have a secret, an inside joke if you will, that gives you an extra something special that nobody knows about. And that extra something special is an inner self-confidence.

When the dreamer realizes they can make their hopes become vividly tangible, it is an amazing fuel that, while others may not understand it, you will never lose, and it truly can push you toward heights you may have thought were only possible for other people. But the interesting thing that you begin to realize it that those "other people" were dreamers once just like you. Just add work, passion and optimism and guess what, you can be referred to as one of those "other people" some day as well.

In today's newsletter, Monday's Inspiration focused on the little things that make dreams a reality, and it caught the eye of many of readers - Little by Little, Grand Things Are Achieved. With January just barely behind us, our New Year's resolutions may just be getting off the ground, but I urge you to continue to press on. The reward and the learning that will go on throughout the process will be something you will be proud to have endured.

A grand dream for me because realized this week as my first article as a regular contributing writer for the online magazine Laura U Mag was revealed in their February/March issue released Thursday. I must thank again Karee Laing, editor of this luxury magazine, for inviting me to be a part of the Laura U team. I am truly grateful. Below is a look at the article that focuses on Luxurious Spring Style.

, I do hope you are looking ahead to the weekend with a spring in your step and a schedule that is as full or as free as you'd like. How do you define luxury?

Webster's Dictionary defines luxury as "an indulgence in something that provides pleasure, satisfaction, or ease."  I define luxury as something that makes my life more enjoyable but is not a necessity.  In my opinion, life would be not only boring, but unfulfilling without some type of luxury,no matter how simple or inexpensive it is. You have to have something you enjoy that makes you feel good.

What luxuries do you enjoy in your every day routine?

My biggest luxury is my massages.  I don't get them daily, but rather every 2 weeks.  I never really understood how people enjoyed massages so much, until I began getting neck tension and found a fabulous masseuse.  I have come to really appreciate and look forward to that time with relaxing music, hot towels, and an hour to just think.  Another luxury I enjoy is my daily coffee.  I was not a coffee drinker until I turned 32!  I really look forward to waking up, even though I am not a morning person, so I can enjoy my coffee (with a few too many Splenda).  It's the aroma, the taste, and the romantic idea that somehow I'm a grown up now.

What luxuries do you hope to enjoy in the future?

Since I am single and don't have kids at 34, my priorities are much different than those women who do.  I don't know where I'll be in my life next year, or five years from now, but I hope to have a husband and children.  That being said, I hope to be able to enjoy a relaxing manicure, some time to still cuddle up under the covers reading my current obsession without interruption, or just sleeping in on the weekends.  I don't think it will happen, but one can dream.
