s I sit down to type, the snow is coming down in big white flurries, the trees are receiving their dusting of holiday icing, and I can't help but crave an opportunity to get all snug in my house with a sumptuous mug of rich hot chocolate.

Whether your weather resembles the Pacific Northwest or you are enjoying warmer temperatures, the holidays are a fantastic time to reflect on what exactly the focus of each of our lives should be.  Every one of us will come up with our own unique answer that will reveal our own unique gifts, passion and pleasures, but the uniting thread is that this time must be taken at some point on an annual basis. Time to reflect, celebrate, reposition ourselves or congratulate ourselves on staying the course that sits well with our souls. What better time to do this when you are indoors, snuggled up and enjoying your home?

Monday's post shared thoughts on Owning Your 'Uniqueness' and if when you take the time to sit down and assess where you are, you are dubious about where you are going, don't hesitate to refocus. Click here to read Opportunity To Refocus

This past weekend's Rules of Style centered upon a woman who herself had to refocus, sit down and determine how she wanted to her life to unfold when one of the most prestigious modeling jobs was taken away from her, and clearly she has handled the redirection very well.  Meet Inès de la Fressange.

So in the spirit of encouraging us all to take the time to sit down and soak in the coziness that the holidays can bring, this week I have gathered luxurious and luxury for less finds that bring warmth and comfort, a unique take on a classic dinner recipe, a book that will surely prompt you to live your best life, and articles from around the web that are full of holiday cheer for both our everyday lives and specifically regarding fashion. And if you are like me, and you're trying to create a very memorable holiday season that eliminates the fuss and unnecessary frou frou, check out Why Not . . . Simplify The Holidays?

Also, I would like to introduce our spotlighted reader, who currently resides in Texas, but whom I met via Twitter due to her ties in Portland, Oregon.  She is a woman of travel and genuine congeniality, a wonderful and very much appreciated supporter of this newsletter. Do introduce yourself to Donna, or as so many of you probably already know her @westbysouth and discover her take on luxury.

May your weekend be full of pleasurable pastimes, possibly a bit of holiday shopping and a moment or two of absolute bliss. Happy Hanukkah to my readers who are celebrating this week and through part of next week and to each one of my readers have a lovely first weekend in December.  Happy Holidays and until next Friday, I'll see you on the blog.
-Shannon

How do you define luxury?

*Good health, peace of mind, family and friends...

*Any "four walls" so I can create a place of beauty and comfort...a home

*Knowing what I want or at least knowing I am willing to go out and find what I am looking for...

*Luxury for me is knowing the beauty and joy of a few favourite treasures...be it a Blue/White Ginger Jar from Hongkong, an Italian leather bag, a seashell from a beach in Florida...

What luxuries do you enjoy in your every day routine?

Every morning I light candles, listen to classical music, read my favourite blogs and have a cup of tea in my blue and white porcelain cup before getting ready for work.  I get up ridiculously early...but my days are always better and fuller because of this.

What luxuries do you hope to enjoy in the future?

I have to be honest...I am looking most forward to a life that does not include a corporate job.  While there are certainly sacrifices that may come with that decision...and I have stepped away from corporate life before...it is a luxury I believe I can make happen.
